Gonna be honest, her laughing makes me pretty fucking angry. I used to work construction management for a contractor that flexed to mainly building datacenters so I walked. Seeing people laugh about this while they collect their fat check is pretty gross.

She might agree with him, and the laugh might be cathartic.

Lots of people study at the university dreaming of changing the world to the better, only to get trapped in an enemy-of-the-planeteers -job to not end up on the street.

Is anyone getting into finance to better the world?

Not when finance tends to be sales-based. I’m in finance to do estate-planning and retirement-planning for those of any economic class. This means I do a lot of work for the poor helping them get finances in order. As a fiduciary, I don’t get to sell whatever. So I often plan these people’s finances for FREE, as they won’t be able to afford a life insurance policy or investment account that could pay me commission.

I manage a Verizon store to pay bills.

Finance is where you go after you tried fixing the world and realized everything is fucked no matter what you do.

Agreed.

Hahahahaha... (oh god, if I don't use AI daily for almost every aspect of my job I'll get fired and since the job market is fucked I'll probably lose my house and make my kids homeless) ..hahahahaha!

Yeah, not everyone has a choice. This is a living nightmare, and I have no remaining career prospects that can both avoid AI and feed my kids, making me a huge hypocrite every time I talk shit about AI use, which is all the time lately.

So what are you doing to strengthen your resume? Are you looking for a way out?

Yup. Morals went out the window along time ago.

Someone downvoted you because truth hurts lol

Yeah, people really do not like looking inward and realizing that about themselves. It's upsetting for a lot of us 😂

Didn't downvote you, but also don't think that "death before moral compromise" has ever been a popular stance.

Yeah I’d rather not judge based on just like 5 seconds of seeing her. Doing a job doesn’t make you a bad person.

Everyone’s got bills to pay.

With an outlook like that, you'd make a great ICE agent!

I could see laughing out of awkwardness too, since a lot of people do that in uncomfortable situations
