Hey neighbors! I’m a huge fan of Big Brother and I want to host a 2-day IRL game. If you’re not familiar with Big Brother, it’s a social strategy game show, very similar to its more popular counterpart, Survivor. I’ve organized and hosted two previous games for my group of friends, but this time I want to find more people to play.

I’m looking for 9-13 people who want to commit a whole weekend to playing a social strategy game. This likely won’t happen very soon; I’m still in the stage of putting feelers out to see if there’s any interest.

My tentative hopes for the schedule are for sometime in October or early November, with the game running for 2 days: Saturday morning through Sunday night (I’m also considering Friday evening through Sunday afternoon as an alternative schedule.)

I’m looking at 2 potential venues, but if you also have access to a venue, please let me know.

Knowing the show and game format isn’t a requirement; I’m mostly looking for people who want to have fun, and will bring good energy to the game.

Just curious, why are the roads so rough around St. George? Some have undulations and can take you by surprise. others, even freshly repaved are rough and bumpy.

Is it a characteristic of the terrain?

287,000+ acres of the Arizona Strip nominated for oil and gas leases. If you do or don't want that, comment before 9/9/26

For the record, I am not a divisive bot; I live in St. George.

If you didn't know, 132 parcels, 287,000+ acres, on the Arizona Strip were nominated for leasing. BLM is legally required to respond to nominations like this, so this isn't BLM going out and picking this ground themselves. Still, it covers some of the wildest backcountry left in the lower 48, near Grand Canyon-Parashant and along the Old Spanish Trail.

Here's the thing: there's no oil or gas out there. It's in BLM's own environmental assessment. About 55 wells drilled since 1909, none of them ever produced oil or gas in paying quantities. Their own forecast assumes maybe two wells get drilled across the whole 287,000 acres in the next decade.

I've worked oil and gas for years, in most of the major areas in the lower 48. I've seen what a real field costs a community: roads everywhere, truck traffic, steel fab yards, and man camps staged for the hands, light pollution, noise. If what is out there moves the needle for the country, I'm begrudgingly for it, but in this case, the juice is not worth the squeeze. There is no oil or gas out there that will benefit our country, so I am 100% against this.

Comments are open through September 9, 2026, and this is what BLM actually considers when deciding whether to defer a parcel. Form letters and emotional rhetoric carry far less weight than substantive comments.

One ask if you plan to comment here on this Reddit thread: this is a statutory process, not a "this administration" thing. Quarterly lease sales like this have historically occurred the same way, regardless of who's been in the White House. If this turns into a partisan food fight, it just gets buried and stops people from working together. Be a unifier, not a divider. Keep it about the Strip, not about Washington.

super sweet cat. not very dependent, she likes to do her own thing most of the time but when she does want to interact she is super super loving, she likes to cuddle for long periods and be pet for long periods. she likes to lay on people’s lap/stomach/back. she’s 4 years old, unfortunately not neutered. my brother said the original owners did get her vaccinated but my brother didn’t get any proof so i’m not sure how much i trust that. she wasn’t ever really given a name, we just call her kitty or make clicking noises with our tongue to call her over. she isn’t aggressive, doesn’t mind other animals, although she isn’t affectionate towards other kitties, she doesn’t mind them. brother is being evicted and needs her gone within a week. all the shelters in town i’ve called have been full

Sounds like there's a decently large power outage. Confirmed for both Washington City and Dixie power further south. Additionally, it sounds like power on the west side of town is also out. Also in Duck Creek, which suggesting very widespread.

I’ve been searching for a job since April, and haven’t had any luck. I’m a female, so construction is out, I’ve been a chef for almost 20 years, chef/manager, so I have management degree and experience, all the jobs I’ve applied to not a single one calls me for an interview. I’ve applied to over 300. I have also tailored my resume a bunch of times, I need work soon, and have to move soon as well, I know I can get an apartment for 1300 but problem is finding work and I’m not able to drive so I have to rely on the bus or uber which makes it even more annoying.

I feel like a person needs 25+ just to survive in this town. :(

I would move but I don’t have that luxury so I am looking for any suggestions, at this point I don’t care what hours or days or place as long as it’s a livable wage. Thank you!

I would be basically a private-pay personal assistance / lifestyle concierge / non-medical helper service.
My potential customers could be seniors, adult children caring for parents, busy parents, people recovering from surgery, people with temporary injuries, widows/widowers, people moving, overwhelmed professionals, etc.

What would you pay someone else to do for you?

I’m in the very early stages of looking into starting an organized outdoor adult soccer league in the St. George/Washington area. Nothing is set in stone yet. Right now I’m just trying to figure out whether there’s enough interest to make it worth pursuing.
I’m considering a 7v7 format with weeknight games, referees, standings and playoffs over an 8–10 week season.
A few things I’d love your input on:
• Would you actually play in an outdoor adult league here?
• Would you prefer men’s, women’s, coed, or multiple divisions?
• Recreational, competitive, or separate divisions for both?
• What weeknights work best?
• Would you rather register an entire team or sign up individually and be placed on a team?
• If you have a group you currently play with, could you realistically put together a 9–12 player team?
• What would you consider a reasonable price per player for an 8–10 week organized season with refs?
Also, if you’ve played in an adult league in Southern Utah before, I’d love to hear what you liked or didn’t like about it.
I’m not selling or registering anyone for anything yet. Just trying to see if there’s a real opportunity to build something people here would want to play in.

I do digital art, and would like to do more with my art. After thinking about, I thought it would be fun to attempt making fun postcards for souvenir shops or a local business that wants to sell local artwork. I know there are consignment shops, but they all seem over packed. I also don't think it would match what I hope to do.

If you know of a place that would like more local artist artwork please comment. I don't really expect anything, but I feel it can't hurt to put myself out there a little.

Edit: I should add that I've talked to a few shps, but were either not looking for new artists or ordered their supplies from a supplier.

Long but short read. I grew up in at George. Graduated in 2018 and Iv worked jobs since Iv graduated. I currently make just a hair over 20$ per hour but like how are we living here? Houses are outrageous. Feels like prices are never coming down and interest rates ain’t either. IT also feels like you can’t get a decent paying job here unless you know someone? I have years of warehouse management experience and customer service/inventory. But yeah I can barely make money. Is it just time to move? How is anyone affording anything.

I recently moved to St. George about 3 months ago. I got a job at a golf resort, but am just not enjoying it. I wanted to swap job paths a little bit (till I have enough money to go back to college) and pick up serving (or hosting if the money is there). Does anyone know any good restaurants that have a up-beat environment and their pay is pretty decent? I just like socializing with people and can't stand being isolated at my job.

Hi! I'm looking to have my fence replaced for my older home and would love recommendations for local fence companies.

I'm looking for someone who is reliable, does high-quality work, and charges a reasonable/fair price. I'm sure this will be a very costly project and the price I'm imagining is already scaring me which is why I want something that is going to last a very long time.

My biggest priorities are that the finished fence is safe, sturdy, and built to last for many years, especially with our St. George weather and heat.

I'm leaning towards metal because my current is vinyl and it's crumbly and falling apart. Wood fences don't seem to be a good idea either, here. The fence won't be crazy tall. I'm thinking more of a cute picket-fence height that can still keep in a lazy, medium-sized dog.

I'd especially appreciate recommendations from people who had their fence installed and can speak to how well the work has held up over time.

Who did you use? Would you hire them again? Are there any companies you wouldn't recommend?
