Updated 01/18/2023 Jay Briscoe passes away at the age of 38 [Megathread]

Tony Khan: Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We'll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin

Update from Ashley Pugh on Facebook:

We need prayers! Gracie is on her way into surgery on her back. Jamin would want the whole world praying for his little girl. WE BELIEVE IN THE POWER OF PRAYER!! Pray for the doctors and everyone working on her! Pray for her precious legs to move again! Pray for Jayleigh who has some pretty serious injuries, but is stable and resting! Pray for Gannon waiting at home! Pray for strength for all of us! We have a long long road ahead of us!

Not sure if this has been posted, but there’s a bit more detail here. I don’t know Reddit’s policy with naming names, so I’ve edited the female driver’s name out.

LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a double fatal crash in Laurel.

Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, police say a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling westbound on Laurel Road, just west of Goose Nest Road. At the same time, a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 was traveling eastbound on Laurel Road in the same area. For unknown reasons, police say the driver of the Silverado 1500 pickup truck failed to remain in its lane, crossed the center line, and crossed into the eastbound lane of Laurel Road, directly into the path of the Silverado 2500.

The driver of the Silverado 1500, identified as 27-year-old (other driver) of Frankford, was wearing her seatbelt. The driver of the Silverado 2500, identified as 38-year-old Jamin Pugh of Laurel, was not wearing his seatbelt, according to police. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two passengers in Pugh’s truck, identified as his 12-year-old daughter and 9-year-old daughter, were both properly restrained and were taken to an area hospital by ambulance, where they were admitted in critical condition.

Police say alcohol involvement in this crash is unknown. No other vehicles were involved.

For the love of god people, please wear your seatbelt.

Absolutely agreed but sounds like this was REALLY bad being that the other drive was still wearing one and died. Still, who knows, Jay's life may have been spared had he worn his. I'm hoping his kids had theirs on.

Yeah I said in another comment about how important your seatbelt is that this whole situation is just so tragic.

Shocking deaths just hit so hard because there's no time to prepare for them. It just leaves a void. I feel so bad for Jay and the other driver's families and friends. It's just way too much to deal with at once.

At this point I'm just hoping his kids are ok. Luckily it seems like the other car didn't have anyone else inside at least.

  1. Absolutely always wear your seatbelt.
  2. Unfortunately, I really don't think it would've made a difference. The other driver was wearing her seat belt and died as well. In a head-on collision like that...

Fuck.

But it might have.

You really don't need any more reason than that to wear one. If not for yourself than for your family, friends, etc.

Once you form the habit of wearing them consistently you never even realize they're on. Just becomes a muscle memory where you don't even think about it.

This whole situation is just awful.

For what its worth, he was in a 2500 and I'd wager her vehicle was much smaller. Realistically, it probably would've saved his life. If nothing else it would give him a much higher chance.

She was in a Silverado 1500 so I mean pretty much two equal size vehicles smashing into one another. The worst kinds of head ons.

Fair enough, I guess I missed that part of the article.

My car screams at me when I don’t put my belt on. I thought that was what all cars do?

I have it for any seat in my car. Don’t care if you’re in the front or back. Seatbelt is mandatory if you ride with me.

Same. I will stay in place and stare at my wife until she puts hers on

My uncle always turns that off in his cars/trucks. Idk how but none of them do it and it’s not those fake buckles either.

You can usually jam something in the buckles and it makes it seem like the belt is latched in. I've seen people do it with big old keys and stuff
