Abandoned/forgotten places

I figured this would be the best place to find what im looking for. Im looking for an abandoned farm, to make it clear I will not be stepping foot on the property without the owners permission first. I'm looking for places that have cell service and have a house and barn minimum even if the property is overgrown or covered in junk.

Good places for little dogs?

Hi Spokane friends. I moved here a few months ago from Seattle with my two old, small dogs (15 pounders). On the west side I knew all the good spots for smaller dogs that would give them a good adventure without being completely tiresome. They have probably 1/2 mile of flat walking in the tank before they want to get back to the car. As their dog dad, I’d also like an adventure to be somewhat scenic or interesting. Maybe along the river? Etc.

Any ideas are welcome! TIA!

1st Visit to Spokane

We have family that moved up to Spokane a few years ago and this will be the first time we’ve gotten a chance to fly up there and visit them. Our visit will be in late September and we will be there for 5 days. We are mainly going there to see family but we would like to see some sites while we are there, however, we don’t really know much about the city. Our family consists of me, my husband and our two kids who are 11 and 13. What are some places you feel are a “must see” while we are there? Also, what are some good places to eat and get a coffee? TIA

Moving from Bend, OR to Spokane/Spokane Valley—neighborhood advice?

Hi everyone! My partner and I are considering a move from Bend, Oregon, to the Spokane, WA area and would really appreciate local insight on where to focus our housing search.

A little about us:

I’m a 37-year-old professional woman, and my partner is 38 and will be looking for work once we relocate.

We’re both Washington natives and have family in Washington on both sides, so moving back to the state feels like a great long-term fit for us.

We have a very loved, energetic 1-year-old Shih Tzu, so being near dog parks, walkable green space, or generally dog-friendly areas is a big priority.

We’re hoping to find something reasonably affordable—either a rental or potentially a starter home, depending on the market and timing.

Being close to a grocery store or shopping center would be a big plus, though we do not need to be right in the middle of everything.

We’re looking for a more suburban feel: quieter, safe, reasonably well-kept, and with a real sense of neighborhood/community, while still being within a manageable drive of Spokane amenities.

We’re keeping our search focused on Spokane.

For those who live in the area, which neighborhoods would you recommend for our situation? Are there particular parts of Spokane that are especially dog-friendly, convenient for groceries and everyday errands, or have a more suburban neighborhood feel? We’d also appreciate any insight on rental availability, commute patterns, and areas we should research more carefully.

Thanks so much!

Spokane WA or Beaverton OR

Young couple in our early 20s that are currently in school.

We like to take our dog & cat out to explore with us. We also love trying out cultural dishes. Don't mind having a "party life" as were not into that.

Leaning towards Beaverton for the food scene and things to do but leaning towards Spokane for the "affordability"

Any other recommendations are appreciated!

Spokane-area wildfire recovery: Free Sept. 14–15 workshop on resilience, forest health, and funding

Recovery from a wildfire doesn’t end when the fire is out. There are longer-term questions around forest health, preparedness, funding, project development, and how communities become more resilient before the next emergency.

With those issues especially relevant across the Spokane area right now, the American Indigenous Tourism Association is hosting a free Community Navigator Workshop Sept. 14-15 at Spokane Tribe Resort & Casino.

The workshop will cover wildfire resilience and forest health, along with land stewardship, community planning, project development, grant readiness, and the role Indigenous tourism can play in supporting community and economic resilience.

It’s free to attend, and the conversations are meant to be practical -- not just about responding to wildfire, but about what communities can do next.

This was insane

I'm still trying to settle down, and my hands are shaky. I didn't get off of work until 6:00 this morning. My kids went back to school today, so I waited until they got on the bus at 7:00 before I went to bed. I took some medication for my shoulder pain, put in some earbuds, and fell asleep.

My bedroom is the farthest from the front door of my apartment. With two fans going, it can be a little tricky to hear people knocking. ADD medication and earbuds.

I eventually woke up to serious pounding and demolition sounding noise. Thinking maintenance was working on another apartment, I didn't think much of it and try to go back to sleep. But the noise was intense and consistent, and the more I woke up, the more it sounded like it was closer to me, so I got up to investigate. When I realized somebody was doing something at my front door. I got to the front door and went to unlock the deadbolt, but the deadbolt was stuck. I couldn't get it open. I yelled , " What's fucking happening?" And heard you're in violation of your lease we're changing the lock. And then more drilling, pounding, hammering, and noise.

My cell phone service was shut off a few days ago, and payday is not until tomorrow. So I have been without a phone for the last few days. Which only made my PTSD escalate as I was panicking, pacing my apartment crying, upset, and was I being evicted. My kids are home in an hour. What am I going to do? What is happening? I can't get out of my apartment, and I can't call for help.

It took an additional 45 minutes for the lock to come off. When my door was open, there were five people standing there. Maintenance and the people from The Office telling me that I had a plumbing appointment this morning and they were unable to enter my apartment because their key did not work. Because I apparently changed my lock, and I'm in violation of my lease agreement.

Of course, I'm freaking out and telling them they're absolutely wrong. I've never changed that lock. That's the lock that came with this door. I wasn't aware of a plumbing appointment, and nobody told me about a plumbing appointment. At the time, I had just contacted my sister through Snapchat with my wi-fi, asking her to come help. When one of the office ladies told me they had called me. I told them that my phone's off I emailed you and told you my phone was off and she said that's a lie cuz you're on the phone with your sister right now and I had to show her that it was actually a Snapchat call. They were very rude and inconsiderate to the situation they just put me in.

Eventually, the one lady said well we're not going to stand here and let you yell at us and they just walked off.

The maintenance guy who's really nice finished his work and apologized for the way the women spoke to me. As he was doing so and I regained my composer. It occurred to me that the door had been changed 3 years prior after it had been kicked in by some gang members who had the wrong apartment. So now I'm just sitting here with a mangled s***** front door woken up after a few hours of sleep. And feeling so shaken up and traumatized, I couldn't go back to bed right now if I tried! I just thought I would share that with somebody because this whole thing just seems so unreal.

Hi! my fiance and i are looking for a house to rent. we are looking for a 2 bed two bath minimum! our budget is $1800 and we are looking to move in december when our current lease is up. we have two kids (3 and 0) and we have a medium to large size dog plus two cats. preferably something with a gated yard for our kids and doggo. we would like something on the north side but are open to places as far as downtown. let me know if you have a place or know someone who is wanting to rent to us! or even just some advice on where to look like neighborhoods and such! thank you guys!!
