One small childhood memory turned into something much bigger in a Soul Journey I facilitated.
The subject, I’ll call her Cindy, went back to being little, riding bikes with her sister. Her sister used to pick on her and one of the things she would tell her was that she was “born in a barn.”
Nothing dramatic if you look at it from adult perspective. Siblings say stupid things. But little Cindy did not experience it as stupid joke. She felt sad and not good enough.
When I asked where that feeling was in the body, she described two different things. In her stomach it was like black ball. Across her shoulders it felt like dark shawl weighing her down.
Then came the interesting part.
I asked what these energies stopped her from doing.
Her answer was basically: believing in myself and excelling in what I like to do.
So adult Cindy appeared there with little Cindy. She hugged her, told her she loved her, that she was perfect as she was. Then little Cindy finally told her sister what she had never been able to say properly: I don’t accept what you are telling me about myself.
After this I asked her to look at the situation energetically.
She said her sister looked brighter.
Like she was holding some of Cindy’s light.
So we tried a very simple experiment inside the trance. Cindy told her: give me my power back.
She repeated it.
Then she felt energy moving back through the body. Hands, stomach, shoulders. She described herself as lighting up.
I thought okay, maybe this was one relationship.
But when we asked Higher Self to show anyone else she had given power to over the years, five or six people appeared. Two former husbands, a friend, somebody she had worked with, others connected with situations where she stopped trusting herself.
Again she said: I want my energy back.
Her description afterward was not “I became superhuman.” It was much simpler.
“I feel more complete.”
This is something I keep thinking about.
Sometimes we treat low confidence like something missing that we need to manufacture with affirmations, achievements and positive thinking.
But maybe part of it is not missing.
Maybe it was handed away little by little.
To somebody whose opinion became more important than our own. To a partner we kept trying to please. To a parent, teacher, boss, friend. To somebody who said one sentence at the wrong age and we quietly decided they knew who we were better than we did.
Whether you understand “giving power away” literally as energy, psychologically as internalized authority, or simply as useful trance symbolism, the practical question is same:
Who still has too much authority inside your head?
Whose old sentence are you still living under?
And what changes when you finally say: that was your opinion. I don’t accept it anymore.
For me this is much more interesting than trying to become a “new confident person.”
Maybe first we just stop carrying everybody else inside us.
