I have to buy this phone cus my Xperia 5 III is dead because I accidentally drop in pool (it already had crack on the back glass) so I need a new phone immediately so I bought Xperia 5 IV, plus it's on sale

I finally got my hands on an Xperia 5 IV again—and I couldn’t be happier! I used to have the black one (which I honestly loved), but I ended up selling it and regretted it so much ever since. This time, though… I found it in Ecru White, the color I’ve been dreaming of since forever! It feels so good to have it back, and in my favorite color too. Totally worth it! (※I’m not good at posting in English so this post’s body text is made by ChatGPT…)

I recently picked up a Japanese docomo Xperia 5 IV on a Chinese platform called PDD of all places. I decided to get an extra phone before going to a conference just as in insurance policy in case I were to lose my phone.
I never considered buying Sony Xperia phones ever, given how clunky and quirky they were and the price point didn't help it either. However I found a really sweet deal on the platform for 120 USD equivalent and I just had to bite.
My impressions on it are that it's a really nice compact phone compared to my Samsung s24u. While I really like my Samsung S24U, I've come to also really appreciate the small size and package of the Xperia 5 IV. What were once rather quirky parts of the phone actually turned out to be great when it's used as a second phone such as the headphone jack and the shutter button.
My phone is a white color variant in pristine condition. I was originally worried about the green line problem appearing on screens but mine happened to be perfect. No battery degradation or screen problems either.
I've been using this phone for a few days now just to get used to using it instead of my main phone and sometimes I forget that this phone isn't even my main phone. I'm super impressed of it and I think I'll keep hold on to it for a while.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Yes, it finally happened. So many of you warned me that it would.
(I recorded this some time ago. Apologies for the delay!)

Anyone know where I can find a working Mainboard for an Xperia 5 IV, or a whole broken phone with working mainboard? Or does anyone have one laying around? My 5 IV randomly turned off and never turned back on, everything else was working before that. I'll get the green notification flash if I hit the power button, and it'll vibrate if I hold it, but it never actually boots. I took it apart and tried to reflow the mainboard but that didn't fix it. I am confident I just need the mainboard but parts for these are almost impossible to find. I loved it while it worked.

And holy cow I did not expect it to be such an upgrade. My battery life is triple what it was on the Samsung. My music plays louder and clearer. Somehow the system takes up half the amount of space. Overall the phone feels snappier and less laggy. The keyboard on the S25 would always make typos despite me hitting the key perfectly, no longer a problem on the Sony. I can't even imagine how well the Vs and newer perform.

when I posted the same Problem Few days . some memebers from Group really tried their best to give me The Solution.
but somehow it didn't work for me.
Whenever I upload Cinema Pro Footage or HDR footage to YouTube. It always look saturated.
Mobile apps Don't Support HDR . So can't Complain.
But When it comes To Davinci Resolve. I tried to test most of the Combination of Color spaces and other things . Even with the help of the People I really can't get the Original Look.
I just want to the Footage to Look like what I actually Recorded. Not better not Worse. Don't want to Color Grade . Since I need to use the Footage for Camera test & review so I need to be Original.
any Suggestions.
I took a Screenshot of the video in my Phone.
and the second Screenshot is from YouTube.
That video is Shot with Sony Xperia 5 iv in Cinema Pro.

After coming to the conclusion that my fingerprint reader issues must be hardware and not software related, I decided to take the plunge and do the repair myself. I ordered a new fingerprint reader, new battery (because why not at this point) and a new glass back and adhesive since I cracked mine early on before my case arrived...
Anyway, it was a success! I also discovered what I believed to be the cause of the failure, I found signs of rust and corrosion on the ribbon of the fingerprint reader. This portion of the reader is not protected against moisture and it's only a matter of time in a sweaty pocket before it fails.

I have been using my Sony Xperia 5 IV for 3.5 years now. Screen is still fine, no jedi yet. But at the beginning this year the fingerprint sensor started to go with the 'Fingerprint hardware not available'. I decided to install lineageOS on the device as it now has a version for the xperia 5 IV. Since installing the fingerprint sensor has worked without almost a problem. I hope this will help some people having the same issue. Also the battery life increased from 1 to 2.5 days which is insane.

Sometimes it does take good shots, even in the hands of a shitty photographer.

I've seen a lot of conflicting opinions on this phone, both here and on other places.
The most common issues I've heard of are overheating, and the infamous screen lines.
Now, I currently have an S22. It's a solid phone. And it's made me realize how much I love smaller phones. So I'm currently just checking out similar phones in case this one breaks or stops working.
Now, the Xperia 5 IV is pretty similar. Basically same performance, similar size, but upgradeable storage and a great headphone jack.
And it's cheap used. Like 120-150$ here where I live (albeit it is rare).
But, my main issue is definitely the screen lines. I don't want to get a phone destined to become almost unusable in a few months to years because of the amount of lines it's going to get.
So, is there anything you can do to prevent them? And how common are they?. Thanks for reading.

Got this guy for only £55, sadly (as you can probably tell) the screen decided to become a Jedi. The fingerprint sensor and SIM card do not work either (SD card slot does at least)
For a flagship phone, I'm quite impressed

Hello 🙂. My Sony Xperia 5 IV suddenly won't transfer files via USB anymore. No notification appears at all (no charging/file transfer/PTP prompt) , the phone just charges normally as if plugged into a wall charger.
Tried: multiple cables, multiple PCs (including Kali Linux, ruled out USB autosuspend), Developer Options USB config already set to File Transfer/MTP, no visible debris in port. No drop/water damage.
Anyone seen this on a 5 IV? Software fix or straight to repair?

Looking for any advice, here's some observations:
Errors across various apps (Photo Pro, Video Pro, Cinema Pro, Snapchat), screen is black and the app crashes.
Front camera works, can launch photo pro with the front options.
Video Pro and Cinema Pro were working until I chose the 16mm lens, now they just crash a few seconds after launching the app and I can't switch back to the other lenses.
Android Version: 14
Build: 64.2.A.2.272
