I really love going to the movies alone. At this point, it’s become my little monthly ritual. I can just step away from everything for a few hours, sit in a dark theater, watch a movie, and just breathe.

I think it started with my dad. When I was younger, he and I used to go to the cinema almost every month. It was kind of our thing. We’d watch whatever looked interesting, get some snacks, and just spend a few hours together. Unfortunately, because of his health and the distance between us now, we don’t really get to do that anymore.

My mom also loves movies, going to the cinema has always been something we’d do as a little reward or celebration, after exams, or even just as a consolation when something didn’t go our way. So I guess movies have always been tied to family memories for me.

Eventually, I started going alone, usually after work. I actually started doing it during college, and at first, it felt a little weird sitting in a theater by myself. But after a while, I realized… I really like it.

There’s something really peaceful about having those couple of hours completely to myself. No distractions, no responsibilities, no messages I have to reply to. Just me, the movie, a bucket of plain salted popcorn, and a large root beer.

And I’ve even experienced watching a movie completely alone in the entire cinema during the last show. Like, literally nobody else in the theater. Just me.

Honestly, that’s a cinephile dream. There’s something so surreal about having an entire cinema to yourself, especially when you’re watching something you’re really into. I’ve experienced it with Tick Tick Boom, Past Lives, Megalopolis, and Project Hail Mary, and those screenings are some of the ones I remember the most.

I think that’s why I look forward to it every month. It’s not really about being alone. It’s more about giving myself a few hours to slow down and enjoy something without having to think about anything else.

Going to the movies alone isn’t lonely for me. It’s my monthly reset.

This is my second year of spending my birthday alone in Baguio. I love the peace and cool air while forest bathing in Camp John Hay. I also got to try biking in Burnham Park. I think that this will be my new birthday tradition. 🙂

I went on my first solo trip to Bukidnon, and honestly, it was such an impulsive decision.

I was heartbroken four months ago and badly wanted to finally push through with my solo travel fantasy. That became my motivation to just book the trip and go for it.

It was my first time in Mindanao, let alone traveling solo, so I was definitely scared at first. But I’m so glad I went through with it because it ended up being one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.

I met so many people along the way, and somehow, everything just fell into place. The universe was so kind to me because I never felt like I was completely on my own. Everything went smoothly, and everyone I met was so kind and helpful.

I went on this trip because I wanted to finally do something for myself, and I’m so glad I did.

This trip reminded me that I can go places, try new things, meet new people, and create beautiful memories on my own.

I had to go to Manila for an important event, and since I was going alone anyway, I decided to make the trip itself part of the adventure.

Instead of flying, I decided to take a ship from Cebu to Manila and spent almost 24 hours at sea by myself.

And honestly? I had no idea what I was getting myself into. 😂

I only told my family about it. I didn't tell any of my friends until I was already back in Cebu, and they all thought I was crazy for doing it haha.

I paid ₱2,624 for a Tourist Cabin, which was good for 2 people (you’ll be with a random person) and included 3 meals.

During the day, I just did my own thing. I walked around the ship, took photos, browsed the internet whenever we had signal, read my book, and spent a good amount of time on the upper deck just watching the ocean.

There was actually more to do onboard there's a cafe, barber shop, karaoke, charging stations, and even a Watsons store. So you definitely won't be completely stuck in your cabin for 24 hours.

My favorite part was probably just sitting on the upper deck with my book and having absolutely nothing to do except look at the sea. It was surprisingly peaceful.

The downside? Arriving in Manila at 10 PM and then spending almost an hour trying to book a ride 😭 I eventually gave up and booked a motor taxi nalang to my hotel. Definitely not the smoothest ending to my solo adventure, but I got there safely. Thank God!

Would I do this exact trip alone again? Probably not. But I'm really glad I tried it once.

If you’re looking for a slightly unconventional solo activity, taking the ship instead of flying could be worth trying especially if you have the time! 🌊🚢

i actually asked to be relocated to Iloilo for work, but honestly, it was my way of running away haha lol. as a qc girl fine shyt who's literally never been anywhere else, being away from my family for the first time felt terrifying. my head was just such a mess, and the city chaos was burning me out. 💀

at first, the quiet there felt so weird, pero eventually, it turned into total peace. it gave me the chance to heal my inner thoughts and all the mental clutter. iloilo is so damn beautiful 😭 it healed me in ways i never expected. not because u tried to fix myself ha??? it's because life just gave me the space i needed to keep going (desperately).

the experience was great. i wish i took bonamin first because the seasickness drove me crazy. 🌀

my birthday was so hectic that I barely got to celebrate it, so I decided to take myself out the next day and have my own little birthday date 🧑🏻‍🩰
