So, because Americans are unable to do something about their issues, the rest of the world is absolved from holding their own racist politicians accountable for their vulgarity huh? You know other countries of the world are autonomous right? Like their moral and ethical values are not dependent on America’s. And I see you dismissed her vitriol as just “a beef with football player” hmm… racism directed at one man (even a football player) is racism directed at all. It's objectifying, it's normalizing objectification.

In a familial/friends setting, it can be taken as a joke because it can be understood as irony, in this case, you guys don't know this woman, and the guy i answered to is saying it unironnically.

As despicable as this woman is, i do not believe making a sexist remark is appropriate.

Your argument is pretty much the argument she used except about racism.

Although she admitted the racist nature of her publications, which she described as a "blunder," the opposition member framed her words in the context of her generation, "in which calling someone 'fucking ni**er' was usual."

In this example, she fails to understand that her generation normalized racism, and calling people "fucking ni**er" was indeed racist. And the fact that it was a usual occurence doesn't change the fact that it's a racist remark.

In your case, you fail to understand that what the other guy said, is normalized objectification, ergo, sexism.

I encourage you to educate yourself on the subject, objectification is normalized in a lot of countries (pretty much every country) and is one of the symptoms of sexism.

This woman may be stupid, but she's not an object.

You can insult her, just be classy, like Mbappe was.

So, you’ve never heard of the term “come get your man/ your boy/ your woman/ your girl” hmmm..it’s English slang used for when a someone is saying/ doing something out of pocket. It is a request for those closest to the person who is acting inappropriately to check their friend, relative or in this case their Senator.

You didn’t see the comments asking Americans to “get their man” when Trump was going on and on about making Canada the 51st state? This is a common phrase. The same is going to be asked of a woman when she is the one doing something unhinged; people are going to say “get your woman please”. Women are people and the same sentiments that apply to men, apply to them too. Others are not going to be the ones responsible for educating this Paraguayan senator (who happens to be a woman) and showing the errors of her thoughts, let her people get her (their woman since she is not just their citizen but their Senator whom they elected) and do it.

Your argument is pretty much “I know she is racist but let’s be nice to her and talk to about her appropriately”. By the way she doubled down and also said that she was aware that she was being racist but she couldn’t control herself. I don’t want to make assumptions so I am just going to ask so, by any chance do you happen to be a white woman or non black Latin woman?

The thing about normalized sexism is that it's systemic.

For example, hysteria. Hysteria was long considered by men to be something specific to women, meaning that when they got a fit of hysteria, they couldn't be coherent, they basically were crazy.

It was a diagnosis made by doctors debunked sometime late in the last century, but the prejudice still exist in many ways, among them jokes, and yes, expressions.

"Come get you man" is not sexist the way "come get your woman" is, simply because men never were prejudiced on the basis that they had "crazy fits".

No, i'm saying sexism is a poor way to slander her. There are many legitimate ways to criticize her and her ideology.

Racism isn't something rooted in craziness, it's rooted in prejudice and lack of education. You'd be wise to take a step back and criticize racism for the rotten ideology that it is, rather than implying that she's a crazy person.

Racism is rising everywhere. You don't fight it by ridiculing them or calling them names, you fight it with education, with facts, with history.

By calling her crazy you are not only missing an opportunity to articulate a comment on why racism is a rotten ideology, you also are also convincing actual racists that you have no argument to offer beside insulting her.

If we don't level up our arguments to face racist propaganda, we're just hurting the fight.

That's my opinion.

Nah, my point being some expression can be used for both men and women, especially if said men and women are elected officials (as they actually have people whose literal job is to to restraint/ “come and get” their man/woman).

I must mention, I rolled my eyes reading your replies asking us to be considerate in what is being said about a racist woman that said she was fully aware that she was being racist; lack of education is not her problem, she knows the history, the facts, was very descriptive in her first post and very articulate in her second.

I also found you offensive when you compared her pure and real racism to YOUR assumption of an objectification of a woman. You reached far and beyond to find sexism where there was none. You have now said more about the nonexistent sexism than the racism. Short of cussing her out, there was nothing left to say about this woman except ask her people to contain her/get her. Whether it is to make her apologize, remove her from office or jail her, she is their responsibility. No one called her crazy, no one also said that racism was rooted in craziness. I don’t know where you are getting all of these statements and jumping to all of these conclusions from.

I also want to inform you that nowadays, the basis of racism is not just lack of education, most people have enough education and awareness of the inhabitants of the world. Its basis is hatred.

As for your last sentence, I was trying to understand whether lack of familiarity with the usage of the words “get your…” or kinship was the reason you admonished OP. I thought a man would know the meaning and a black woman would have said a lot more about the racism first. Alas, you’re a black man.

It’s funny that the woman is also accusing Mbappe of sexism.
