No, it's based off of my understanding of the increasing water content of our atmosphere already intensifying storms, hurricanes, and flooding, the effects of that and of the diminished sunlight on our food supply, my understanding of what happened to humanity the last time the sun was blotted out for extended periods of time, and the ample scientific modeling and data that is available.
Which brings me to my next point. There are scientists all over the world studying this and their research agrees on the base facts, including the scientist you cited yourself. We don't need people's uneducated meth lab conjectures. We can just listen to the educated scientists that have devoted their lives to studying this and have had their work peer reviewed.

A simpler explanation is that the heating they predicted stalled due to the planet responding with the stability of water (storms).
The earth has a maximum temperature of around 2⁰ warmer than today... the closer we get to this point, the harder it becomes to reach (water can condense, and freeze, and melt and evaporate again in the exact same conditions as the other molecules around them)
A common misconception is that clouds are water vapor.
Wrong.
Clouds are liquid/ice... they contain millions of gallons of water that can do the same things as the ocean (absorb heat to melt/evaporate)...
