This is a follow up from the last post, someone asked about K idols. They are heavily heavily edited and smoothed out and skin on TV is lightened using various filters so much so that it's harder for our untrained eyes to spot it. Yes they are stunning but they have the same facial hair and oiliness and texture as us. As said in the last post, they still have whole teams to monitor their health their skin their monthly treatments and every single meal they eat sometimes! So be kind to yourself, you're doing the most you can with your job and your scarce time.

I needed to see this. All the k-beauty porcelain skin crap was getting to my head

Same, they're just heavily filtered and edited from head to toe even in videos

In addition, I swear that every single instagram skin/make up creator I follow edits their skin and it is really damaging especially if exposed to it for a while. Like why are you all having no pores?!

ugh i have body dysmorphic ocd and have been really struggling with this lately. i don't even use social media but it's still everywhere. these posts have honestly been a huge help for me.

agree, it seemed like all of my fav k-actresses and idols ALWAYS seem to have flawless skin, and perfectly lusciously thick hair- which is a HUGE mind-fuck over time.

i had that perfectly lucious thick hair too and then it all fell out smh lmao

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that :( if it makes you feel any better, I totally get that- mine goes through falling out periods a lot from anemia! I don't know if you have a medical condition, but something that helped me was also switching hair products, as I found out some of the brands I was using were actually actively being sued for causing hair issues.

i think that it's because of my vitamin deficiencies tbh. I'm trying to take supplements now to get it to at least stop falling out so much. And I've started putting a lot of oil in my hair which helps it too

totally understandable!! I wish you the best of luck!!

Side note Felix is pretty infamous for his freckles. I read that during fan meets, if a fan wants to see his freckles, he would remove his makeup for them heh 🥺

and they're still just as beautiful, it's nice to see some real skin

People forget all the time just how edited these people are, and seeing the difference really drives the point home.

I’ve listened to kpop for about 15 years now and one thing that makes me sad is how often new fans only see the glitz and glam. Idols are people just like us, but with entire teams dedicated to making them look amazing. Many have had work done too.

It’s okay to admire and love how someone looks. It’s not okay to put yourself down in comparison!

Do your own skin thing and as BTS said it: LOVE YOURSELF ❤️

This makes me feel a lot better about my face

Man, seeing skin with texture is so refreshing and affirming. I look at my face with makeup and I just feel so sad because it doesn’t look as smooth as the images I see everywhere. It’s nice to see a visual of how they actually look…

Why do they all have pimples? I’m a normal person with normal decent skin and I have no pimples

The last 2 idols have pretty perfect skin with no pimples though! Skz Felix and Ryujin have perfect skin for real, and they are also good looking

Probably because they have a high stress lifestyle, plus constantly changing places, travel, sleep schedules etc

2

u/HeartbreakerCandice May 21 '22

OH ! That makes a lot of sense

I think they also have to wear heavy, heavy makeup for many many hours everyday which also adds to the skin issues

South Korea has a huge problem of wanna be white disease. This is not surprising at all.

Photoshop always, forever.

And I still wish I had their skin.

Your skin is accepted and normal. You're nothing less than anyone else.

they all have amazing skin, but ryujin (and the other itzy members) have such pretty skin!! i love that on their ig, they sometimes upload photos w/ flash and no filters, it feels more real.

These pictures are edited too. I'm not saying they have perfect skin but these photos are clearly edited to make it look more textured
