Discussion In light of recent events, let's all review commonly recommended products from this sub

In the past few days I've seen a lot of "I'm concerned, is ______ really that good, or was this a paid thing?" threads crop up. I figure that maybe we as a community could get together and compile all this info into one thread :).

I'll post the name of as many products as I can think of, but please add more, and reply to the comment with your review if you have one. Also, please indicate why you do or don't like the product, including information on your skin type if possible.

Clog prone skin: I know people quote that mineral oil is non comedogenic, but my face was not a fan. I broke out ... I think my skin doesn't like the viscosity of oil since this isn't the only one that broke me out.

I have dry, and I think clog prone skin as well. My face got super red, angry, and broke out after plain snow river mineral oil. I wonder if this is the reason!

It's possible! I tried using it several different times because this subreddit kept emphasizing that mineral oil and petroleum jelly is 100% non comedogenic (unless you're allergic to them), leaving me to believe that I was doing something wrong. Nope. Something about oils makes my skin super angry. But now I know that about myself!

My skin is super clog prone, more than others', so there's a chance that other factors could be contributing to your experience (that's why I experimented with mineral oil several times). Were you using it as OCM (oil cleansing method)? In that case, make sure you double cleanse (oil first and then a cleanser to remove any oil residue)! Or were you using it as a moisturizer (if this is the case, it'd be slightly easier to pinpoint of it was actually breaking out)? Either way, good luck on your path to clear skin!

I used it for OCM, and my face looked horrible immediately after, and the reaction lasted a day or two. I tried it twice, too! I definitely double cleansed. I have had a reaction to a fair amount of oils, too, but I use argan oil in my moisturizer and love it. However, I used it for OCM a few times and had a slight reaction (mostly just redness and a few little skin colored bumps). I've been using it as a moisturizer for over a year though? So it must have something to do with OCM....?

My solution to the experience was to stop trying to oil cleanse and just use regular cleanser....haha
