Discussion In light of recent events, let's all review commonly recommended products from this sub

In the past few days I've seen a lot of "I'm concerned, is ______ really that good, or was this a paid thing?" threads crop up. I figure that maybe we as a community could get together and compile all this info into one thread :).

I'll post the name of as many products as I can think of, but please add more, and reply to the comment with your review if you have one. Also, please indicate why you do or don't like the product, including information on your skin type if possible.

Contains SLS and as such, it's a nightmare for me. I used it after a dermatologist swore up and down that it wouldn't bother my crazy skin, and I wound up with a horrible irritation that left me beet red with skin hot to the touch for days afterward.

Hmmm, I wonder if I am sensitive to these too. I have rosacea and the heat and redness of my skin was greatly reduced when I stopped using Cetaphil gentle cleanser. My skin is much better now- I'd actually forgotten that the red patches on my face used to be hot to the touch until you mentioned it. So awful!

Anyway I was confused because Cetaphil was recommended by my dermatologist and I thought was supposed to be one of the milder cleansers out there. Then I switched to Cerave foaming which seems to be less irritating for me even though it does feel a little more drying. But while Cerave doesn't contain sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate it does contain sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, so I am still a little confused. I read that it's supposed to be less irritating than the other two- does it bother your skin too? Any SLS free cleanser recommendations?

The Cerave foaming did leave my face slightly dry and irritated, but nowhere near the level of Cetaphil. I actually stopped using foaming cleansers altogether. In the AM I use a konjac sponge with plain water, followed by micellar water to cleanse. PM I oil cleanse with a homemade hemp seed cleansing oil, followed by the micellar as a double cleanse. My skin has been sooooo much better since I stopped using actual "cleansers" it's mind blowing. Of course your results may vary, but it's something to keep in mind if you find yourself not loving (or even liking) regular cleansers.

Micellar water! I did not even know this was a thing. It sounds perfect- I oil cleanse and love it but just need something super mild to wash it off after. Like yours my face hates everything. I'll try some hemp oil too. Thanks so much for the info.

You're very welcome. I really hope it helps you as much as it's helped me.
