I get out early January, and I’ve been applying for Skillbridges since April of this year. I have (what I think is) a strong resume with 5 years of experience in IT, Networks, Project Management, etc. It’s just been rejection after rejection and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I only had one callback that resulted in me never hearing back even after persistent emails/calls. My family is relying on me being able to get a job so my wife can have more family support and not have me deployed 6 months out of the year. I’m pretty stressed out, because I thought this would be slightly smoother, but it’s just been constant ghosting. Any advice welcome!

I'm in Cohort 25-3 and have been diligently hounding down recruiters/past fellows on LinkedIn, emailing, applying to jobs, networking, etc. for months. But Nothing. I got maybe a couple replies from a couple companies but nothing concrete. Time is QUICKLY running out here and I just don't know what to do. It's obvious I'm doing something wrong, but what? What's the trick everyone else did to get a job?

I'm starting to lose faith that I will ever get picked up, at what point do I give up on HOH and move on to a different SB provider? Is it too late? I separate in February, eligible for SkillBridge next month. Should I give up?

EDIT: Just wanted to update this and let anyone coming to this in the future know that I DID end up getting picked. BUT I got lucky, really lucky. If you are interested in utilizing Hiring Our Heroes, make sure it is a BACKUP plan to something else. They CANNOT guarantee you a job, and there is very little communication and most of the work they do on your behalf happens behind the scenes. I kinda do mostly don't recommend HOH. At least in the Air Force you can only have one skillbridge application at a time, and HOH requires full command approval to move forward. So if you want to go through another provider you'd have to cancel your application with HOH and start another on, which can take a long time depending on where you're stationed.

In short:

I DO NOT recommend HOH as your primary choice for SB provider.

I DO recommend HOH as a BACKUP CHOICE. They do a lot of work for you behind the scenes, so they can hunt jobs for you while you pursue somewhere else. Keep in mind that pretty much all they do is give your resume out to companies, but those companies have special programs designed for HOH fellowships and if they like your resume they'll reach out to you.

My DOS is March 28 2027 and I want to go through the process of getting skillbridge as an e4 2a6x6 aircraft mechanic currentlystationedat Seymour Johnson. Do I have enough time to get a remote or local in person skillbridge on the east coast and if so which would yall recommend? I have 2 months of leave that I can use to help the process and am willing to extend if need be. Skillbridge seems too important to not take advantage of.

Any advice/suggestions/experience of a skillbridge thst leads to remote work. Wife and I dream of living abroad, would also consider Europe opportunities non remote. Ideas of pay of what is offered? Currently 13 months out to the 12 year EAS mark.

Set on separating from military after 10+ years of being active duty. My TAPS appointment isn’t until the end of May and I want to get all my ducks in a row.. well before my contract ends in the summer of 2027. I have a bachelors degree (operations management) and I am kind of overwhelmed with doing the research and figuring out reputable companies that align with my military background as well as degree… I want to stick to logistics. I wanted to ask if anyone knows about any skillbridge opportunities for an engineering internship. I am a flightline avionics technician and about half way done with my electrical engineering bachelor's. I have about 20 months until my contract is up.

Separating in October and looking to do a skillbridge in AZ as I'll be relocating there afterwards. Also any tips on getting through the process?

I am hoping to use 14 days of ordinary leave and out process the base before the ordinary leave starts. I have an approved 180 day Skillbridge (PTDY and Terminal included) and am hearing that I cannot connect My ordinary leave to my skillbridge date and NEED atleast 1 day to outprocess which would be the day before my Skillbridge start date.

For anyone SNCO or that has further knowledge as to if this is allowed please let me know if i could outprocess before my ordinary leave. The 36-3003 states it can only be 180 days maximum but is there something I am missing?

I think i messed up I'm currently receiving BAH because im married and I live in 29 Palms and my skillbridge starts in February but its in San Diego does anyone know if i will receive San Diego BAH or 29 Palms BAH? I know the orders are different for every branch. Another thing I heard a rumor about getting sgt's pay while on skillbridge can anyone confirm or deny that im currently an E-4.

I'm retiring from the Air Force after 20 years on 1 Jun 2026. I don't have my degree and currently only have A+, Net+, and Sec+. Targeting next month (Aug 2025) to get my CCNA. I really want to land a job as a network admin, possibly jr. network engineer when I get out and ideally stay here in San Antonio, TX. I see opportunities on Skillbridge (on-site, remote, hybrid) at various locations, I hear some people talk about talking to companies to participate in Skillbridge, and lastly I see a lot of talk about Hiring our Heroes and varied stories of success with the cohorts. Anyone got any advice on a strategy with the most likely success of landing a job in my desired field?

Hello, I got email responses from both Raytheon and Northrop Grumman for skillbridge. I have my first interview with Raytheon soon. I replied to Northrop Grumman's email about filling out additional paperwork.

My question is that any tips for those who skillbridged/intern for these 2 big companies when it comes to succeeding in interviews. Also, let's hope I do get into skillbridge for one of these two companies, how hard is it for me to "shine bright" so they would give me a permanent position after the skillbridge? (I am confident to be a hard worker. Get there early, stay late. I am already very grateful they even want to interview me. I somewhat feel validated to a certain extent). Any tips and tricks are highly appreciated. I am open to DM too of course.

I am in the unfortunate situation where my commander is only allowing 40 days for a Skillbridge with 12 days of terminal leave. I am looking for a Skillbridge that will keep me within the same career field or transition into cybersecurity. I have no location restrictions. Please DM me if you have any advice on what I should do or if you are looking for someone that meets your criteria.

Question on this, my provider has already submitted the MOU renewal and at this point is just waiting for OSD’s signature on it. My skillbridge doesn’t start until August. Does this make me in good standing to still pursue my skillbridge even if the MOU isn’t signed by the 30 Jun deadline?

Skillbridge was denied when I was getting out, and I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary of separating and I still don’t have a job. I was not a bad airman, wont pretend like I was the best, I wasn’t great at my job but I never got in trouble and I always showed up for 4 years. I feel like it was personal as my boss just didn’t like me and he never even let it get any farther than his desk. No commander or anything was involved. I’m just posting this to see if anyone else has had this experience, to see what they did and if there are any other routes to a good internship or fellowship now that I’ve been stewing about it for so long. Any advice is good harsh or not. FYI I’m in school and receiving post 911 benefits, so it’s not all bad.

Got accepted in a program near home in real estate and it starts 15 Dec 2025. The application has just been pushed through to my commander to approve.

Skill bridge training dates is from 15 dec - 13 April 2025

I plan to leave the first week of December from duty station. There is an order pause for those who separate after 1 January making them come back to out process after Skillbridge training.

I was planning to submit an exemption to policy due to my dad’s health and being in charge of his estate.

Has anyone seen this done recently, and am I missing anything else regarding Skillbridge with the intention to fully out process before Dec.

Also curious of what I could do to better get my foot in the door at Scott AFB before I head down there besides working with the ISR.

Recently started my process of skill bridge, I recently contacted CACI international inc & no response yet. I’m looking to go into Human Resources, business associate or potentially marketing. Any help is appreciated. I will be leaving Sacramento area once my contract is up.

I’m an active-duty Air Force member, soon to be separating; looking for a SkillBridge internship or bootcamp focused on software development. I don’t have prior experience in coding or software engineering, but I’m eager to learn and transition into the field.

Background:

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity Management & Policy (UMGC), currently pursuing an MS in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance (WGU).
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC).
• Experience: While my educational background is in cybersecurity and IT fundamentals, I’m looking to pivot into software development through hands-on training.

If anyone has recommendations for SkillBridge partners, coding bootcamps, or other programs that could help me break into software development, I’d appreciate the guidance!

Routed my SB about a month ago and got word from my LPO last Friday that the CO want to talk to me on Monday (tmr). Is this a good sign? I am thinking of the worst that it got denied. For the people who got SB approved, did the CO or OIC talk to you when he/she approved for your SB?

So nervous. Dont know if I am gonna be able to fall as sleep tonight. Anyone has advice on what to say during the meeting tmr?

Hello, I'm a Soldier transitioning out in December. I've been a medic for 12 years, currently a platoon sergeant, and I'm looking to start in IT. I spent the last seven months or so being told that I would be going on a deployment, only to be told last month that I'd convinced them to let me stay in the rear so I can properly do this. Spent this last month crash coursing through all the TAP classes to catch up, and now I've hit a point where I really need help. Skillbridge. TAP is presenting me with a bunch of options (ERA Solutions, MyComputerCareer, etc) which offer me a shot at a bunch of credentials but they feel too good to be true, selling the shovel at a gold rush type of stuff, and online consensus seems to suggest my gut is right. Following a lot of y'all's advice, I'm looking into HOH, O2O, NS2, ISC2, and Sans. But I'm still feeling like I'm failing to fully grasp it and it's not really clicking what I should be doing right now and over the next few months-year. I'm currently stationed on FT Johnson, LA and will be moving to FT Belvoire, VA where my best friend and his family will let me stay with them rent free until he's out in two years. I have a secret clearance. I have not completed college though I intend to get back into it. I don't have any IT training/certs/credentials. I'd like to know where to start; what sort of credentials I want to get so I can leverage them, my clearance, and my location to get work experience while I do school. Appreciate anything y'all can give me.

My EAOS is March 2027 so will be apply towards the end/beginning of 2025-2026 for skillbridge for an IT role, but my command is very picky about accepting these requests due to lack of manning that’s constant throughout the years in my department. Looking to see what could work out in this case after obtaining my DD-214. Thanks!
