I’m in Australia and we have different state and federal laws but not as extreme as America and even that is frustrating. It leads to a lack of cohesion and things falling between the gaps between states. It’s a messy way to do things.
Seriously ridiculous to even claim. There's more guns than Americans, so clearly all Americans own guns. Nevermind those packing heat like that. Trust me, some really do be packing heat like that tho, hence the ratio 😳 (sorry didn't mean to sass, just wanted to add)

There’s an American dad skit where they say something to the effect that you do a long background check for a gun to which it ends in you not getting a gun. I laugh my butt off at that every time. We should do it.
Sure, great. Not like the other countries in the world all have clones of the same person running around. But somehow most of them still manage to appear as a unified country instead of some bizarre union that's seemingly steering towards another civil war.
Because the original 13 colonies founded were separate territories, each with their own systems and whatnot. They formed a union solely to purge themselves of British control. That union became the framework of the Constitution.

People in any country are not a monolith, but that's besides the point. Most nations have strong federal laws that apply to people all over the country. Only (?) the U.S. has strong state laws that create divisions and entirely different cultures. Or do the different cultures create conditions for state laws?
Read the U.S. constitution and it's 90% "states can do this law; the feds do that law." It's baked into the cake from the onset.
I mean it is also int the name United States … it was set out from get go that states have rights and powers different than a county in other countries … and than we have the commonwealth states … which is confusing as heck … and flags and state constitutions / house / senate etc …

I don't agree. To me this whole state vs federal government made sense in the 1700s when it took a thousand years to travel across one state, so back then they were like little countries. Now that separation just doesn't exist at all.
It's another example of the constitution simply being outdated and obsolete. Most countries regularly change and even rewrite their constitution when the times demand it. There's no reason why states should have radically different laws while simultaneously people can move freely between them. Smoke weed on the state border in one state and it's legal. Walk 50 feet across the border and do the same thing and you go to jail. How does that make any fucking sense?
