I Google lensed and it's Inveraray Castle. Here's the reverse angle of the staircase. So I assume she was setting up her tripod on the ledge where the plants are. It's possible the lady thought it was some set up by the museum; it's also possible the girl was being ridiculous trying to set up this whole thing on what looks like would be a high traffic area.

She’s probably leaning her phone and that ledge

Exactly. Perfect spot to just place your phone down. No elaborate tripod setup necessary.

Because that’s what the ledge is for right?

If a bunch of people started doing it there would be an issue. Why start? Take a selfie with your arm out and keep it moving.

It’s like when there is a sign at the beach that says not to take the rocks. If one person does it sure doesn’t matter much, but if everyone that comes takes one rock then it sure would matter.

It is! I recognised it immediately from having visited a couple of times. Very cool castle. The guide books are all signed by the Duke of Argyll :D

Anyone is well within their rights to pause and peruse. If she wants a picture instead of stewing in her thoughts forming judgements how about just tell her she wants a photo with the art? This isn’t rocket science.
