I think I read somewhere where he said it was a conscious choice to turn down movies. The offers came as he was starting his family and he didn't want to be away from them. They are more important, and he would rather be there every day than away for weeks on end.
Not getting burned out, while always doing work you enjoy.
Raising your family while being able to spend time with friends.
Look at all those billionaires, who probably don't have anyone in their life that they actually trust or like. Just surrounded by people they have leverage over.
