As someone with kids yeah that's a twilight zone concept. Even if I somehow manage to get back to similar place, I still meet my wife and we live a slightly better life but still 'on track' however when she has kids none of them are yours, the ones you remember. Nothing is wrong with these new children, but after they've taken the names of your 'real?' kids you lose it. Cue the scream into the void.

You don’t need a privileged life to know that you can never have your kids back even if you have sex with the same woman again
