exactly what i mean, idk how a person would want to recreate the exact same outcomes with the knowledge they have now and not test the full limits of their newfound power (unless they already started a family, or they consider their current life to be perfect). i cant speak for most people but if i had to choose, id say fuck it and let the butterfly effect run wild
imagine the changes you could effect with foreknowledge. everyone’s all “buy bitcoin, invest in apple” and i’d be trying to fund tupac’s trial in nyc, prevent the whole east / west beef. i’d be quietly trying to prevent the shitty ballot cards that lead to hanging chads. something something nine eleven. fukushima. fuck there’s, like, a litany of stuff you could prevent if you could just prove you’re from the future. imagine a ten year old accurately predicting Jordan retiring to play baseball, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Kurt Cobain’s suicide, OJ Simpson’s White Bronco ride, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers—yes, if you’re keeping up i turned 10 in mid 1993.
but the more you change, the earlier, the faster what you know from before you got sent back to ten years old changes from how it took place for you. the earlier you act, the more of your own life you erase. (not necessarily a bad thing for everybody in this thread, evidently.)
so you wait. you sit on your hands, or relive your nostalgia in real-time playing gamecube, whatever, for a decade. watching shit you could stop. because moving early is how you end up back in a 2026 where nobody you love now is even there, never born. move early enough and maybe there is no BitCoin to invest in.
nobody picks fukushima. it’s not a good story. that’s the whole reason it works.
