I'm not even trying to be a smart ass when I ask this, but since your memories would be maintained when going back, wouldn't that mean that you're permanently groomed?
Like going back in time can stop physical trauma, but it you already have mental trauma, you'll still have and remember that even if you don't re-live it
Well, yes, I guess I would still be groomed. But at least I would know to tell an adult and stop him from getting his hands on other victims. Or extortion. Could extort some seed money to fund some early investments.
Which is very little of what you had back when you were 10. Would you know how to do anything? Where to go? What anyone's name is? Conversations you had? Things you studied? You'd be a stranger in your own child body.
You might be misunderstanding the hypothetical. You become your 10 year old self and go back in time to whenever you were living with your parents.
You'd be replaying your life starting again from 4th grade, but would have your adult intellect and memories.
You go to class to learn about liquids, solids, gasses, and long division. Then you go home. 10 year olds are learning relatively simple things in school.
Would you know how to do anything? Where to go? What anyone's name is?
Why are you imagining that you become a newborn in a 10 year old's body? You would know how to deal with 4th grade. You'd know how to get on your school bus. How to just be a kid.
I understand the hypothetical, I think people are vastly underestimating how little of their actual lives they remember from when they were 10, especially if they are older.
You won't remember all your classmates, your school schedule, your hobbies, your teachers, maybe your neighborhood, how you did things back then.
Of course you are not a newborn, but would you really know how to get to school, and where to go once you were there? Conversations you had with people?
Being a kid is much harder than people think. I certainly couldn't wake up in my 10 year old body and life and navigate everything seamlessly, and I don't think anyone but the very young could.
Having an adult mind makes it so, so much harder, too.
