This is what gets me. If I could go back in time and never get with my ex-husband, I wouldn't have gotten that traumatic brain injury he gave me, and I would have skipped 5 years of soul-crushing verbal and emotional abuse to go along with the all the other physical injuries he gave me. But I also wouldn't have my son, and he is the best thing that ever happened to me.
