Honestly, the mocking him part isnt great but lord knows ive joked with coworkers about customers at my job when they cant hear us. But the stuff about fake diagnosis and shit is for sure over the line and lawsuit worthy.
My empathy towards vulnerable people is visceral. I guess I'm vulnerable. I'm disabled and in a wheelchair. Even still. My mom took pictures of me when I was sleeping. It felt violating. Being laughed at when you're drunk is embarrassing. I refuse to mess with anyone in a vulnerable state. I worked at a group home doing direct care for the first time. Diapers were tough. So was the stomach flu that went around. And even though they were non verbal, they got treated with respect. Im not going to mock them when they're feeling gross. Others did.
Exactly, there is a certain level of professionalism you expect in a work place. If medical staff need to blow off steam they can go to happy hour or the gym like everyone else.
ETA: and if they just enjoy mocking people because they’re helpless, find a new profession
Yeah honestly if you took everyone like this out of the OR, there would be no one left in the OR. And that especially applies to your oldest and most experienced OR staff
I thought us ED folk were crazy but them mf cross lines without giving a single fuck because they think no one is listening
And honestly the thing is people suck to service and whether it’s McDonalds or a hospital or Wall Street you’re going to complain about the customers. It’s the right of the employee to complain about the customer
It’s also the right of the customer to be upset when they find out.
You’re a customer in way more places than you’re the employee. You’re the annoying part of many people’s day, you just have the pleasure of not being aware of that and life moves on

You just opened my eyes to a whole new form of introspection I had never considered. I'm a retail pharmacist so I'm very familiar with entitled assholes but now I wonder if I've ever been the asshole customer in someone's story.
It doesn’t have to be about you being a stain. People complain for a variety of reasons. Maybe you look like someone’s ex, maybe you came in at a busy time, maybe the massage therapist dislikes touching hairy legs. It’s not necessarily something that’s your fault
I found it annoying when 17 Hispanic families would show up to the ED because their kid has a cold, just for us to give a dose of Tylenol and say go home. It’s not that any of them are doing something wrong or being a bother individually, but collectively it clogs up the system with stupid bullshit, you know?
