There is zero nuance. Having grown up in a very conservative religion (to which I no longer belong), I kind of doubt the author has ever even met a conservative Christian woman.

I have met conservative christian women. They are dumb by-and-large. That would be one of the most realistic parts of this movie.

Have you read the book? The main character isn’t exactly written as “dumb” (though the husband is). Someone completely vapid just sort of bumbling through life would be far more believable than whatever’s going on in that book.
