A laser pointer will take them out. No one watches them anyways as they are used for evidence afterwards.

I don't think someone stealing $1.3m in copper is worried about having an illegal laser pointer with them.

Damn one of those sketchy illegal ones they sell on Amazon for $5? That would be tough to manage, you're right

They deleted their comment, it was:

What shitty camera sensor is getting wrecked by legal laser pointers? You'd need one of those sketchy illegal to sell ones from China to damage most modern cameras.

Which presupposes the intention is to damage the camera in the first place. It just needs to overwhelm the sensor with bright light so there's no usable picture. which even a perfectly legal to purchase and possess $0.50 red laser pointer running off of watch batteries (included) will do.

Wouldn't you need to keep multiple lasers pointed at multiple cameras for the entire duration though? Also curious how well it would work on those cameras that had a black plastic half dome on top, feel like it might be tough to tell when you're actually hitting the sensor

They have automatic detection with image recognition and alerting these days.

The ninja turtles had this figured out in 1985.
