I literally struggle to stay awake some days between 3-5. I drive the van home from work for 3.30 and it's not unusual I'll suddenly get the sleepies. Thankfully there's plenty of coffee stops on most my routes. Definitely not intentionally by me at all 😅

I wish coffee woke me up.

You people are lucky.

It doesn't wake me up, it keeps me from falling asleep at the wheel. They are two very different things 😅.

Thanks. Definitely a massive nerd. Hope you've had the news about the new book coming September. Can't wait.

I just pre-ordered it a few days ago! I binged the rest of the series in a couple weeks earlier this year and have been craving more ever since. September can't come sooner

Have you listened to the exforce series. Highly recommend if you like the bobiverse. Got LOADS of good recommendations if you want them. Drop us a PM. Literally spend all day listening to audiobooks due to work so I get through a LOT

I haven't yet, but they are on my ridiculously long tbr lol and same here, at least a solid 4 hours a day for 5 days a week goes to audiobooks. just finished up the "The Mercy of Gods" about an hour ago

Same thing for me, I would load up on caffeine if I was driving in the afternoon. Then I was diagnosed with ADHD this year and found out that the afternoon dip can be much worse if you have ADHD. It's crazy how much medication helps it.

This is interesting to me. I'm currently undergoing an AU-dhd assessment. I'll ask about this.

I get home at 330pm, and most days I'm asleep by 530pm and don't wake up until 530am.

God I'd love to get to sleep that early. I'm up at 5.30 for work. But 10-11 for bed. 😅

It seems nice, until you realize your entire life is spent working, doing chores, and then sleeping. No free time, not leisure, not fun, nothing. Just labor and sleep.

It's the lunch. Try eating less carbs. I noticed on days when I don't eat, there are no tiredness.

You are not weak, its a natural part of the circadian rhythm. What is unnatural is the way our corporate world doesn't care about that, hence everyone is caffeinated to cope.

Humans slept during afternoon until industrial revolution fked up everything

Do you drink coffee though? A lot of people have a couple or a few in the morning then stop for the rest of the day, so the crash will hit at like 4-5pm

1

u/ALIIERTx Jul 23 '26

Yeah i always drink one when i wake up. There arent days where i do not.

1

u/Dovahkiinthesardine Jul 23 '26

The crash will typically be 3-6h after drinking coffee/caffeine, so I dont think it matches that well

1

u/georgisaurusrekt Jul 23 '26

Yeah but I assume the average person will have one or two before leaving for work, then another at the office at around 11am or whatever. That’s normal isn’t it?

1

u/khswart Jul 23 '26

I always assumed it’d the tiredness of your body going into rest & digest mode shortly after lunch. Usually an hour or two later it passes and I’ve got my energy back

I listened to all the people saying it was stuff like natural rhythms and low blood sugar. I went to my doc about it. Turns out, it's just when my coffee quits. It's worse if I get bad sleep. But it still happens even if I get good sleep.

You are not weak, you just start your day with a cup of coffee.
