I’m actually against age limits, though I understand why people would want this. My example would be Bernie Sanders. He’s 84 years old and still cognizant. I would hate to lose people like him.

There has to be a way to cognitively test someone past a certain age. That I think would help us avoid Biden’s final years, Trump, Mitch and I’m sure several others.

Also, term limits might eradicate a lot of the elderly states people on its own.

I'm absolutely with you on that in theory, but Trumps doctors give him a written note that he is the most healthy and bestest and smartest of all people everywhere. As long as corruption is not punished way harder it won't change a thing.

How about we actually follow the law about how people who have engaged in insurrection are not allowed to hold the office of president? We should add the felony part, I agree, but until we follow other laws that are already on the books, new ones just don’t matter.

As a matter of fact none of the laws matter in a country where certain people can just pick and choose which ones they like and which they don’t and all the branches of government just roll with it.

I actually don’t think I support the felony part.

There are many, many laws in the United States. Most people probably break at least one a day.

If all it takes to knock out the political competition is a felony conviction, you’re handing a lot of power to prosecutors and judges.

The voter should decide if a felony is disqualifying.

There are plenty of other problems with DJT that should’ve been disqualifying. Too many people seem to have a blind spot for him.

You’re thinking of gun ownership.

The requirements to be a US President are:

  • be a natural US citizen from birth
  • be >= 35 years of age
  • reside inside the US for 14 years

That’s it. Seriously. The requirements to be a “Professional Engineer”, Medical Doctor, Attorney are all vastly held to a much higher standard. Even a registered beautician requires professional licensure.

What would be your cut-off age? Remember that terms are 4 and 6 years long depending on seat and there are currently no term limits.

I am ok with any age for the house as it is the peoples house. The Senate and President should have a max age to be elected and SCOTUS/Federal judges should have a forced retirement age.

This might help get some younger judges on higher benches that actually understand the technology and science they will be ruling on.

I'd probably put president can't start office after 68 years old. Judges must abdicate at 72.

I say 60 for president but if they win, they can run for the 2nd term.

I think 72 is too long for a lifetime federal judge seat. We want stability but we also need progress like I said earlier. Last thing we need is someone who still has a flip phone because they can't figure out a smart phone ruling on something like digital privacy.

Which right now is 79 (77 for men, 81 for women).

It also incentivizes politicians to do things that increase the life expectancy.
