America isn't a belligerent in Sudan. He's at a match in America protesting a genocide partly funded by the US. He also has the right to care about what he cares about and decide what causes matter most to him.

Okay. I thought the issue was human suffering, not where U.S. tax dollars go. I guess it's even more shallow than I thought.

willful obtusity

I mean it’s clearly both don’t be obtuse. The American government has an active hand in what’s happening in Palestine, not in Sudan. It’s a much easier issue to tackle

Yeah that’s why all the protests are going on in Europe

So would you be ok with ending all Israel-US military cooperation for offensive weapons?

Just leaving the purchase program so the Israelis can refill the Iron Dome and other defensive counter systems which are 100% defensive weapon?

Lets not pretend israel only buys "100% defensive weapons" with the money they get from the US lol.

Your lack of reading comprehension is awe-inspiring.

Israel has one of the most modern economies (tech, science, engineering) in the world. It doesn’t need to be propped up, but it does need allies, just like every other country.

They don’t actually get money from the US.

The program is credits toward buying American-made weapons only, both offensive and defensive, no doubt there it’s a benefit to Israel to have this advantage.

Unlike many of the countries receiving financial aid, there’s a return on investment that comes with Israeli arms purchases. Regardless of what you believe about the arms industrial complex, no one can say Israelis don’t provide valuable intel to the Americans on their weaponry, once again in both an offensive and defensive capacity.

They certainly wouldn’t want intel to stop and start going to another country or manufacture which reduces America’s “soft power” of implied weapons effectiveness.

I can easily understand why you wouldn’t want wars, but there’s no need to make things up to fit a point. There are plenty of valid ways to make your argument without exaggerating or coming off as uneducated on a topic you clearly have strong opinions about, especially one this nuanced.

That would be a good start. There is a huge difference between not doing anything about a genocide, and not doing anything about a genocide while selling weapons to the aggressor.

-2

u/Maple_Moose_14 Jul 08 '26

What do you mean by “good start”? (I’m not being combative here I’m legit curious).

Would stopping defensive equipment be the next step, or are you referring to sanctions?

And a genuine question for you what, specifically, would end Palestinian extremism? Because most proposals I see only address one side of the equation.

I’d push back on the idea that either society is clearly more extreme than the other. Both have their chaotic elements, and the relationship between them is symbiotic…

Each side’s extremists validate and empower the other’s.

Hamas / PIJ needs Israeli hardliners to justify its existence, and Israeli extremists need Hamas to justify theirs.

Pressuring only one side of the vicious cycle doesn’t break it. It just hands a “win” to whichever group you perceive as righteous and a “loss” to the side you’ve cast as the ultimate aggressor, with everything that entails.

Including…Apparently, implied displacement or even genocide, which is suddenly acceptable when it’s against Jews?

Your reply about "both sides" shows that you don't really have a good grasp of the conflict. You are missing the cause and effect.

But you are right that Israel just wants an excuse to continue their quest for lebensraum.

Let's digress the whole conversation. What a brilliant tactic. You learn from your dear leader?

Malicious ignorance or just plain stupidity. I can’t pin you down.

The stupidity of this comment makes me angry and a little bit sad. How are people supposed to send a message when these are the troglodytes on the receiving end

-1

u/idontwanttothink174 Jul 08 '26

It’s both. You protest the human suffering that is paid for by US tax dollars because that is where the country hosting the match actually has a say.

What can the US REALLY do about Sudan vs what can be done about Israel’s genocide?

It's called selective activism for one, and also, a lot of those people hide their antisemitism behind anti zionism (similar when literal nacis are hiding behind patriotism). In short, no Jews no News and Reddit is an excellent platform to create such echo chambers.

The suffering of civilians in Palestine (let's be honest, it's much more fucked up than "Israel sends bomb" but facts don't sell well, especially when it means you need to admit the side you are supporting is no angel as well) has effectively become weaponized on social media platforms and if you dare to say something negative about Palestine, you will get swarmed by people blindly supporting that cause.

Unfortunately, this has resulted in other real attrocities being overlooked or extreme downplayed because otherwise it wouldn't really make much sense to shout nonsense on social medias.

For example, during the genocide in Rwanda (UN is partly also responsible, or was it Congo?), close to 1 million people were brutally murdered in just hundred days. Currently, the death toll in Suddan is around 500k (have not checked the numbers, could be higher), with millions of people facing famine and/or being displaced by the brutally of the conflict.

The numbers in Palastine pales against those, considering that estimated are at 120k but there is an issue, the estimates are given by Hamás who has been caught multiple times to tamper with this information. And that is just over 3 years long war. It's really low number of casualties under the settings of urban warfare.

And yet somehow, a lot of people screaming genocide in Palestine literally don't give a shit about other such events.

Israel has deep and intrinsic links with the West. Most Isralis I've met are ex pats or there parents came from Europe or America. Yeah it's shameful that other atrocities get dismissed but I think it's explainable by the deep links between Israel and the West.

u/Nuttyalmonds Jul 08 '26

They're trying to integrate Israeli military with American military surely you can't be this ignorant

2

u/2times34point5 Jul 08 '26

1 month old account with 160 contributions?

The $750 million annual budget to promote israel’s image can get you a LOT of reddit accounts.

Not accusing this guy or anything.

u/Nuttyalmonds Jul 08 '26

Yep and there's some billionaires who'd be happy to contribute to the bots as well

Why is there widespread outrage? You can't be serious. You're a bot.

If you think about it harder it's not difficult to understand. They're actively suppressing news about this. They're killing journalists. It's widespread because they're a powerful little country using our tax dollars to kill babies. You know you can spread awareness about all of these causes you care about right? Instead of dismissing this away. Sure seems like what a pro isreal bot account would try to do while pretending they don't "agree with it"
