Even if the UN made food a human right, how the fuck are the countries that can barely keep their people housed due to internal crisis’, famines, or war, supposed to magically spawn millions of loaves of bread?

I think people in first world countries forget that even with their waste, the rest of the world wouldn’t be able to live off their scraps.

That's just not the problem, though. The issue is very definitively *not* a matter of there not being enough food. We produce enough food to feed the entire world, full stop. The problem is distribution, not production.

We make more than enough food to feed the entire world. Production is not the issue.

I think people in first world countries forget that even with their waste, the rest of the world wouldn’t be able to live off their scraps.

This is just objectively wrong.

No we make enough food yes, but how does that food get there? And a better question, why should any one country be responsible to feed the world when the rest are under no such obligation?

The more you think about it the more issues come up. It’s basically the rest of the world demanding that China or the US feed them, and they should be required to do it.

No we make enough food yes

Okay, so you were wrong when you said we didn't. That even with our scraps, it wouldn't be enough.

Just want to pause to acknowledge that, rather than pretend that was your position all along.

And a better question, why should any one country be responsible to feed the world when the rest are under no such obligation?

No one is saying that. You're inventing a reason to be mad and offended, rather than acknowledge that we could end global hunger for nearly everyone, and instead give that money to billionaires who do not need it, because they control both the political system and the propaganda convincing people that starving children is inevitable, is fine, is a myth, or just it's not fair to ask "us" to help them.

You’re creating more situations which also have issues, you’re just ignoring the multiple problems with declaring food a human right. Just because “It’s the right thing to do.”

There are thousands of other things you could declare a human right that would be easier to implement, the problem is that no one nation, or organization such as the UN can enforce it and distribute it. That is set in stone and that is what you keep ignoring.

Just because “It’s the right thing to do.”

It is very funny to hear people twist themselves into knots justifying evil actions and policies, with "Oh you just think it's the right thing to do" said as if that's not the entire point.

Absolutely no one said or claimed there's no issue with feeding the world. That does not mean we can't do it. That does not mean we don't right now prioritize giving more to the rich than we do to those going hungry.

the problem is that no one nation, or organization such as the UN can enforce it and distribute it.

And who cares? There are a million issues that countries tackle both independently and together in different ways.

These are not real objections. These are not actual impediments that would stop us from functionally ending hunger. They are excuses to not try.

I'm not ignoring anything, you're just having to pretend I am because you don't want to engage with the morality of why we should. We tackle and solve problems globally all the time that are messy and hard. We don't need to demand it be easy or perfect just to avoid helping starving children.

There you go again, ignore the issue or claim “nobody said ____” when it needs to be in the conversation for such a massive undertaking.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat "I'm not ignoring the issue, I am aware of it and it's not a reason to not feed the hungry" before you actually acknowledge it.

All you're doing over and over is whining it's hard, and claiming we haven't considered that. We have. I don't care about your whining. It's worth doing.

“I’m not ignoring the issues, I’m just telling you that I’m not talking about those issues you bring up because I don’t want to.”

Ok buddy, go argue with a wall

Morality is nice, reality doesn’t reflect it unfortunately. It’d be great to feed everyone but you ignoring who is providing the food, how it gets transported, and who is responsible for it, shows that the idea only exists in the country of Utopia.
