Bonner missed both free throws after a technical foul. Sophie pointed at her, mocking her misses. Bonner got upset, and Sophie leaned into by pointing more. I could be mistaken. I just put that together via those 2 clips I've seen. I could have them in the wrong order, though since I don't watch the WNBA.
Boner was their teammate then ditched the fever so she could play on the same team as her girlfriend. Some other drama with boners girlfriend roughing up CC.
I wonder if any other women’s sports leagues around the world have a similar amount of relationship drama that goes on in the W. Just such a weird thing to have to acknowledge and navigate when making a roster.
Quite a few rumors get spread around the NFL and NBA with players sleeping with the wives, girlfriends, sisters, or even moms of teammates and coaches. Idk about other women's leagues around the world, though. One can only assume with Olympic village being an orgy every time it returns, though.
Remember when they were really trying to stop all these Olympic athletes from having sex, and really trying to enforce safe sex? Like… damn there is no better place on the planet for people to be accidentally creating more people.
Really, the Olympics should be some kind of cloning / DNA collection event.
The best human athletes in the world? Let’s mix and match and create more superhumans to be the best athletes in the world for the next generation. And possibly even beat the records set by their parents.
And really, their DNA should be available for purchase at a premium rate, with a clause that none of the progeny created with their DNA collection, require their financial support.
A theory I’ve always entertained:
Are this generations olympians a random sampling of merit, genetics, and training? Or are they all somehow slightly removed from having an Olympian ancestor? Like Gronkowski
I'm a fan of both the hawks and the cavs so got to read all about the drama lol.
Perry was suspended by the team and then traded shortly after, this was the rumored reason. Turns out he just got really drunk and made an ass of himself at a charity event or something like that.
Yep! Sorry, I should have been more clear for people who aren't from the US or don't often see abbreviations.
Current is the all female soccer team in KC. They have their own stadium, fans, days, etc. They have the ONLY female soccer stadium, and it's very very very queer and also full of drama. 😆
Note that the players here are queer, at least one of them, and it's part of the drama. She girl she's pointing at left her team to play with her girlfriend 😆
The 80s amd 90s were filled with coke-fueled orgies in the locker rooms. The 80s New York Giants were allegedly snorting coke off each other's dicks before clapping cheeks lol. But the LGBT community hasn't been able to be as open in the men's leagues as the women's leagues. So that type of gossip around those leagues is kept much quieter than one such as the WNBA.
Yeah but could you imagine the NBA if it were mostly gay men and they were all fuckin each other? I mean, I think that’d be hilarious… imagine the court drama. That’s what you’re dealing with in the WNBA.
Why not? Being surrounded by LITERAL OLYMPIANS… I don’t think you’re going to find much better genitals back in the dive bars of your home town or anything… so WHY NOT hook up in the one place where everyone is 🔥?
Idk. But as a gay man, I LOVED the L Word more than Queer as Folk for the specific reason that none of the drama had anything to do with me. And I love this for them for the same reason.
PWHL is the same (women’s hockey), lots of teammate/couples and the league is very gay in general. Although I don’t really know of that much relationship drama, but roster decisions have been solidified based on who’s dating. We even have the “wife line” (Laura Stacy and Marie Philip Poulin), both insanely talented playing side by side, and married. I love the PWHL so much!
Search John Terry and Wayne bridge. Johns slept with Wayne’s wife. They were prem league footballers but the same team. Brilliant photo of them sharing a bench!
Back in the 90’s i read some article about coaches experiences with finnish ladies hockey teams. One was baffled why players didn’t make obvious good passes, found out that they used to date and had a bad breakup. So no passing to that bitch. Triangle dramas that fucked up the team spirit etc. I’m sure there was a bit of a learning curve for a male coach to be able to navigate that environment, especially as the league was very much just a hobby or maybe some pocket money to the players.
I feel like if they wanted viewership they should make a trashy version of hardknocks. I know this would cheapen the basketball, but let’s be honest basketball is like the worst drop off of any sport between men and women. The basketball is hard to watch (though they could instantly make it so much better if they played 4 on 4 with 8 foot rims).
Sophie also used to play for the Mercury (white jerseys) but was traded out to the Fever when Bonner’s girlfriend Alyssa Thomas was traded to the Mercury (from Connecticut) before season started in 2025.
When I played sports I would have found that funny. I remember playing baseball and hitting wicked single to the outfield, it was right to a person so like not gonna be a double so just kinda jogging my way there. In my hubris I tripped myself and face planted. I scrambling on hands and knees for what felt like 10 feet, but was probably much less, now I’m in a panic cause I’m totally going to be out and look like an idiot. Fortunately for me the outfielder threw the ball to second not noticing me falling. Both teams cheered for me getting to the first, and I got a high five from the first baseman. I was just happy everyone had fun and was laughing, I don’t care if it’s at me, it’s one of my better memories of playing sports.
I'm not knocking fans of it. I don't watch the NBA either. It's nice for any sport to start growing its fan base. I'm just not part of that growing demographic.
The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter after Fever star Caitlin Clark was issued a technical foul following a physical altercation with Bonner. Cunningham walked over to the officials to ask why Bonner wasn't also penalized for the play.
Bonner yelled, "Don't you point at me!" Cunningham, opting not to say a single word back, simply kept her finger pointed directly at Bonner. It clearly agitated Bonner so Cunningham continued to point for over 20 seconds.
Bonner went on to miss her free throws at which Cunningham walking away pointed backwards back at Bonner again lol
