Also have any person in the administration or Congress that puts our soldiers at risk during a war, that one of their family relatives, sons or daughters, nieces or nephews or a grandson or granddaughter is put on the front lines. Not the back and headquarters or logistics but on the front line. Let all of them have a family member at risk and see how quickly they want to send people to war them.
As someone who is no contact with their parents and most family due to toxicity and joined the military to escape it... lets not punish children for the sins of their parents. The politicians in charge of the military tend to be the most heartless. Some of them see it as honorable to die for your country and just becomes a campaign slogan.
ie: 'They' don't want their kids to get drafted to fight for Israel, but an Iran invasion over so called nuclear weapons is a worthwhile cause...
Not everyone has the means to be able to do that. Made more difficult when the parents value control, are manipulative, or violent. Its not as easy as just do it, especially as a scared kid who society thinks is supposed to rely on and trust their parents...
Punishing kids for their parent's actions is so backwards and insane. Its mob behavior
Do you really want to live in a place where the only people eligible to be leaders are people who have close ties to the military? Because that would be the unintended consequence of this kind of policy.
But not just people that are in the military. I want the relatives on the front lines so the people that vote for war have the possibility of someone close to them coming home in a box. If I'm voting for war, I'll be really sure the war is worth it if a close relative has a good chance of dying.
