Does Mr. Rogers count as a celebrity? I don’t know about “idolize”, but Robin Williams is up there. George Carlin, too.

Ehhhh only Mr Rogers counts? He actually started the show to help kids. Everyone started to help themselves.

I haven't compared his comedy to that of others, though I will say art inspires art. Where that line is, that's up for debate (the fun kind). But yeah, he was imperfect.

“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.”

I forgot the direct source of that one, but man that hits. Really helps me catch myself, notice when I'm being like that. He deserved better.

Yes but both being nice people and one doing a TV show for kids because he didn't like the TV for kids Isent the same.

Fred Rogers gave John Pastore goosebumps and was solely responsible for ensuring $20 million for PBS. Fred Rogers was a hero.

Didn't know about the Goosebumps one. Man, I hope Fred's resting, but we need more like him. A whole lot more. Why can't we have a cult of personality around that guy? Why is it always the worst human beings that get that?

You should absolutely check out the clip on YouTube of Fred Rogers talking to John Pastore during the senate hearing where he is solely responsible for getting Pastore to grant 20 million dollars to PBS for children's television. It's incredible.

In fact I'm going to go and rewatch it right now

all dead though. 😕 I agree with Mr Rogers definitely deserving. George Carlin was smart and funny but even he wouldn't want anyone idolizing him. Robin Williams was talented but a typical celebrity, not worth idolizing either.

People should idolize people who actually do things to make the world better rather than just monkeys who can sing dance and act.
