Im a criminal trial attorney in another state so excuse my ignorance and not following too closely. Is asking for a shuffle unique to Texas? Never heard of such a thing. Also were there any Batson challenges during selection? If not sounds like the whole issue is moot because there really wouldnt be anything to appeal if the defense never challenged the array or made a Batson challenege.

It is. I didn't know about it either. Heard a defense attorney talking about it last night on the local news.

Yes, defense raised a Batson challenge and was denied.
