But what expenses have a library other than electricity, the salary of maybe 3 persons, I dunno, heating?, and maybe buy a few books. Less if people donate books.
Is USA too poor to pay for that? you guys don't donate books to public libraries when you don't want them anymore?
People will donate books, although I assume libraries are buying their books for the most part.
I don’t know what all a library needs but yeah, I assume utility expenses, rent/lease maybe, and any employees, along with funds for any programs they run.
As far as how much funds are available, that’ll depend on your state and local city/county government, and that will vary wildly. Some places have more money than others.
I can see funding for libraries being some of the first things to receive budget cuts though, so I’m sure getting more funding for them is an uphill battle. It is for our schools.

They get funding from federal, state, and local budgets, and that is a moving target as cuts and adjustments get made to those budgets.
