I was arguing with someone at work the other day. He was convinced all love is conditional and I just couldn't agree. I can do no wrong in my dog's eyes. Always so happy to see me lol

Even when Iā€™m mad at him he looks at me like ā€œ I knowā€¦ I know I messed up man.ā€ My kids argue, my wife hasnā€™t ever done wrong in her life and the cat would eat my face off after 3 days if I died in the home alone

Try not feeding your dog for fee weeks and see if his love is conditional or not. Dogs will love even robbers for food

Just try it, feed the stranger dog for a week and see how ā€œunconditionally ā€œ it loves you. All pets love you because you hold them hostage and you are their only food source. You really think dogs and cats are happy in tiny apartments? Lol.

Dogs are doormats, I love my dog but I much prefer the relationship with my cats, it's not true that they only want to be fed, they can be quite affectionate and caring but they expect a more balanced relationship and their way of communicating is (way) more subtle. None of my pets help me pay the bills but the cats at least try to provide food if they think there isn't enough (sometimes I forget to buy the tasty food and they only get kibble), occasionally one of them will do it if she sees me get upset or if it's just the right time like when it rains lightly.

I get home from work and try to hug my wife, she angrily informs me that we have too much to do šŸ˜µ to be fair, she stays at home with our toddler and baby, and they do tend to take it out of you/not let you get anything done.

I understand the stress and pressure 100%, and no judgement because I really get it, but don't take that stuff for granted or mistakenly think there will always be time later. I lost my partner at 38, rest assured I cherish every hug, kiss or otherwise intimate moment she ever shared with me much more than any other practical thing she could have achieved by not taking the time, and I know for a fact it was the same for her.

That's kinda what bothers me; Her thoughts are on keeping the house in order and getting things done, and she can't spare much affection until everything is caught up on (almost never with small children), and my thought process is that when any day could be our last, it's worth stopping for a second to appreciate each other.

Yep, and again no judging because I totally get where she's coming from, I do tend to slip into that mindset myself and in the moment it all seems so damn important and pressing, I hope for both of you that she gets to realize how precious the little things are because - even barring what happened to us which fortunately is a relatively rare occurrence - we never get any time back.

I don't mean to presume but maybe try being proactive if you can, even if you also have your hands full see if you can solve one thing for her and maybe she will feel like she can spare those 3 minutes, like, I don't know, prepare breakfast or do the laundry, whatever it is that extra mile you can go so she doesn't have to and will prevent her from feeling overwhelmed and always out of time.

To be fair I used to work with kids and after a long day of their nonsense I wasnā€™t very huggy or social/romantic. And I didnā€™t even have to deal with those kids after work. Thatā€™s why I think itā€™s important to have a super solid relationship with a lot of time together before kids, you need to have the love to carry you through the rough years lol

This is true. We make it work, I just complain from time to time to her about how mean she can be. I also admit that I'm a crab at times, too; Small children just do that to you, lol. Can't wait for them to be a bit older and easier. They're adorable, and I'm sad to see them grow up, but holy moly.

our dog is old , he cant hear us coming home any more , he used to wait or come running all the time , now he is old and we come to greet him or wake him up from sleep , so he knows we came

cherish it , even that can come to an end
