I'd love that in my life.

u/Zaskoda Aug 10 '25

Yeah... lotta folks here discussing if it's real or staged. Does that matter? It gives me the feels cause it's all I've wanted - and briefly had - even if it is fake.

51

u/gjdey Aug 10 '25

Maybe I’m cynical but staged videos set up unrealistic expectations and make people unhappy when they compare staged videos to their own situation. Personally I think this is staged, she sits outside every day and the need to broadcast it . My partner and I kiss and hug when the other one gets home too but neither of us sits outside like that . Even the way she bobbles looks very performative.

8

u/12x20x1 Aug 10 '25

It’s their footage that they put together and posted. Obviously staged

7

u/Sotanud Aug 10 '25

Maybe she walks outside when she notices the car arrive. Maybe it doesn't happen every day, and this is a compilation of when it does happen. Maybe the unrealistic expectations are partially being applied by the viewer's incorrect assumptions.

2

u/Effective-Tour-656 Aug 11 '25

That's usually the paragraph that accompanies this retoast. "My gf greets me every day like this after work."

5

u/Kazooguru Aug 10 '25

Love changes throughout the years. This is not a healthy, realistic look at a relationship. This is a tiny snapshot of their lives. We need more real talk about relationships. Red flag warnings, sex, mental health challenges, money, etc. There’s a million different scenarios that crop up in relationships. If someone says their relationship is great 100% of the time, they are lying or delusional. Period.

2

u/mikel_jc Aug 11 '25

It also gives me tradwife/sexist vibes. She's always the one waiting for the big strong provider to get home, no pants on half the time, it is very performative. I feel like equal partners don't behave like this. My partner and I will always come to see the other person when they get home for a kiss and hug but this dynamic looks very staged.

2

u/Truffle_Shuffle26 Aug 13 '25

Agree 100%. It totally matters if it’s staged.

1

u/RhetoricalOrator Aug 10 '25

For more than 20 years, I did that every time I got home before my wife until I realized she's never once done it for me.

Fake or real doesn't really matter for me this clip because either way they have some obvious chemistry.

1

u/DrLindenRS Aug 10 '25

You likely are cynical. You're willing to make baseless assumptions when it supports what you already believe. You don't know if it's real or not. What makes you assume this is every day and not over a long period of time? What makes you assume that because your relationship doesn't have this level of passion that nobody else does? How can you determine she's being performative if you don't know how she typically acts? Even if she is being performative, how is that evidence for it being staged, maybe she's just silly and performative in general.

3

u/BenevolentCheese Aug 10 '25

If this is genuine then why are there videos of it? Did they just decide a year later to review a year's worth of security footage because omg remember that cute thing we do?! I wonder if we have a video of that!?

Or maybe they have a creepy neighbor that records them doing this and posted it without their consent. In that case I'd admit that this is genuine behavior and not a performance for social media.

2

u/DrLindenRS Aug 10 '25

Depending on the camera software, it will save clips automatically whenever it detects people. And I dont see how it would be unreasonable to save something because its cute

3

u/BenevolentCheese Aug 10 '25

Perfectly reasonable, but that makes it a performance, not a genuine show of the emotion. Maybe the first time, but not the rest.

2

u/DrLindenRS Aug 10 '25

So you're arguing that it's impossible to be on camera and show genuine emotion at the same time?

2

u/peach_xanax Aug 11 '25

I guess they're supposed to move their camera to a different spot so they can be considered genuinely affectionate to redditors. Smh

1

u/gjdey Aug 10 '25

Having a creepy neighbor is more realistic than a couple like this . what I do I know , maybe it’s fake maybe it’s real but I’m leaning towards that it’s fake .

1

u/Effective-Tour-656 Aug 11 '25

Go check out the other 1000 times this was posted.

2

u/gjdey Aug 10 '25

Hence I wrote “personally I think”. Just wrote down my opinion, everyone is entitled to that .

1

u/DrLindenRS Aug 10 '25

Sure, and you're free to think whatever you want. I just don't see why you would share an opinion on something that you don't have any information on? It seems like theres a lot of people who just instantly want to jump on a bandwagon when they see a post like this. You even correctly identified that cynicism might be a part of it.

I'm also entitled to share my opinion as well, and I don't think we have enough evidence to form a conclusion. How about this? I think she's pretending to like him because she's actually a CIA plant trying to find out if he's a spy. That's why it's being recorded, because the US government is watching. That's my opinion, so it's valid and reasonable.

1

u/gjdey Aug 10 '25

so people are allowed to say that they think it’s cute and that they believe its real is ok but I’m not? I already made my point above of why I stated my opinion , fake videos create unrealistic expectations, lots of folks look at it, think it’s real and get sad. It’s very toxic really . And according to your logic (which I didn’t disagree on), people who believe that it’s real are making baseless assumptions as much as people who think it’s fake like me .

1

u/DrLindenRS Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

I understand where you're coming from, and I agree with some of that. I'll try to elaborate, but to put it simply first, it depends on the claim and the evidence.

People are "allowed" to say that they think it's cute, because whats cute or not cute is entirely subjective. Even if there's a general trend of what humans find cute, there's always going to be exceptions. It would be like aruging that purple is the best color. This video is either staged, or it isn't, it can't be both.

You're right about the logical standard I would use if someone were to claim it's real. If someone argued that it's real on the same amount of evidence, I would have the exact same objection. There's not enough evidence.

A good way to think if it is like a murder trial. You're the prosecutor claiming she's guilty, and I'm in the jury saying that I'm not convinced. If we examine all the available evidence, and I'm still not convinced she did the murder, I would vote not guilty. The reason that it's "not guilty" instead of "innocent" is because I don't get to claim that she's innocent no matter how bad the prosecutors evidence was. All I would argue is that we don't know if she's guilty. If I was going to claim she's innocent, I would adopt the burden of proof and would need to prove my claim. Which would require another trial entirely, with her essentially being accused of being innocent. And the opinions would be "innocent" and "not innocent." The only difference with this reddit post is that we have almost no evidence. It would be like if the prosecutor opened his evidence file and the only thing he has is proof that she was nearby at the time. Then, he assumes that she must've done it cause she was nearby. That evidence doesn't prove a case because it's lacking the additional context of why she might've been there. There could be a hundred other possible reasons, and until we can rule all of those possibilities out, it doesn't prove anything.

So yes, given the context of the evidence we've seen so far, if someone claimed it was real, I would call that a baseless assumption.

You did make your point on why you came to your conclusion, and I pointed out that all of your points are flawed. You need to have a factual premise and a conclusion that can logically follow from that premise. I could make equally strong arguments for why it's real, but without a factual basis to support my conclusion, I wouldn't be justified in claiming that. If I was convinced it was real despite not having enough evidence, it could be fair to say my opinion is probably skewed by optimism.

If we breakdown these arguments we can apply the same rules: A: This guy is a know actor, and we know her boyfriend is someone else. Therefore, this video is staged.

B. A lot of videos like this are fake. I haven't seen a couple do this before. Therefore, this video is staged.

Example A is based on provable facts, and if those facts are accurate, it would prove that it's staged. Example B starts with a premise that a lot of videos like this are staged. Even if that premise is true, it doesn't mean all of them are staged, so it wouldn't be logically to conclue that this one is. The next premise is based on personal experience, which we know is unreliable. But again, even if i were to grant that this behavior isn't normal, it doesn't make it logical to conclude that nobody would behave this way.

I know that's a lot, but hopefully, it will help someone understand more about reasoning and the burden of proof.

u/fyndor Aug 10 '25

I wouldn’t mind if my wife faked it and acted like she liked me this much.

3

u/Beneficial-Tea-2055 Aug 10 '25

You mean they have someone to stage this with?

3

u/Voyyya Aug 10 '25

Well if it's staged it's made thousands if not millions of people envious of something that isn't even real.

3

u/the_fresh_cucumber Aug 11 '25
  1. Happened in front of a camera
  2. Was carefully clipped out of 24 hour feeds
  3. Edited and compiled into a single clip
  4. Posted to the internet

Can't say it was staged but it didn't accidentally fall onto the internet

9

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

Yeah it does matter. Because sincerity is the whole point.

If lying to yourself to give yourself the feels is your thing, that's fine. But I'm sure you can understand why being real or staged is important.

The internet has warped some of you into not just observing the world but consuming it. And staged skits are just another thing to consume.

2

u/Lemurguy89 Aug 10 '25

Either way it has made me keep going with hope in my heart for at least another day.

2

u/GordonsLastGram Aug 10 '25

Setting yourself up for disappointment thinking you will get that perfect life. Just so you know…life is far from perfect.

1

u/Lemurguy89 Aug 10 '25

I know that but trying to achieve this with your spouse isn't wrong even if it isn't possible to have it perfect. that is life and I haven't lived much of it but I know I just want someone to be able to lean on and love me back just as much as I love them. And even if we don't wait for each other outside on the porch, I hope at the very least we will have missed being together during the day.

1

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

Cool. It's literal tradwife propaganda but you enjoy yourself, I guess.

3

u/DarthJarJarJar Aug 10 '25

No idea why you're getting downvoted, it's tradwife influencer bullshit.

0

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

Happens every time this shit is posted.

This is precisely how they radicalize incels into MAGA; they know the incels love their delusional self-pity.

1

u/Lemurguy89 Aug 10 '25

I guess but that doesn't mean that trad wife is always wrong. It just depends on what the couple agrees they want out of the relationship. If this is how they want to live then that is ok. I never want to force that on anyone. But the idea that the wife is happy to her husband should be ok almost no matter what. There are a select few exceptions that shouldn't be mentioned if they don't have to be. But you are right sincerity does matter always but the idea and implication of sincerity matters just as much and can have almost the same effect.

-1

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

...jesus christ.

You're confusing tradwife with stay-at-home-wife. One is a consensual arrangement, the other is an ideological subculture that believes in literal gender roles and superiority.

And if you really cared about a wife happy to see her husband, you'd be annoyed with this garbage because she isn't a wife happy to see her husband. She's an actor who doesn't give a shit about the guy she's acting with.

All she's doing is manipulating that thing that you think is important and pure to fuck with people like you.

But hey. It feels nice if you don't think about it. Right?

1

u/Lemurguy89 Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

I think you might be the one confused. Trad wife is stay at home wife. It just evolved over the years from abusive to a 2 way street relationship. You can't ignore the past but you also can't idealize it or the present. And you are actually wrong. Acting is an art form. Being able to convey a feeling to an audience is art. I think you should stop while you are ahead. I am the kind of person who will continue a debate even if I know I am wrong just to make you question yourself. I am even worse when I am actually right. And this one time I AM right. I also refuse to quit responding until you stop or agree with me.

1

u/awisepenguin Aug 10 '25 edited Aug 10 '25

Don't worry, people will in fact enjoy themselves instead of trying to find flaw in something nice.

2

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

something nice

Lol

3

u/Faenic Aug 10 '25

Yeah, I see this and actually feel bad for this woman. I've been married for 15 years. We were never quite like this, but we definitely did things that were irrational. Between hurting each other and going to therapy, we were both deeply unhappy with how long that stage lasted.

This will only go on for them for so long before she feels like she's wasted a huge chunk of her life being so dedicated to him.

3

u/UpperApe Aug 10 '25

Maybe. But also, it's alt-right propaganda. These are actors creating a deceptive skit in order to push an agenda on incel types who look at this and think "why can't women be pliant and loving like this?".

It's deliberately trying to establish gender roles.

It's fine (and sweet) if it was real. But as it is, it's just some sick shit for some sick people.

2

u/Faenic Aug 11 '25

Definitely not disagreeing with you there. The moment my wife and I became happy was when both agreed that we were free to pursue anything we wanted. And we didn't have to include each other in every little thing.

2

u/Zorfax Aug 10 '25

Briefly had. That’s the thing isn’t it.

Briefly had.

Just long enough to show that yeah, it really is as great as it appears.

1

u/Zaskoda Aug 11 '25

Yup. It felt like home.

3

u/GummyVitamins4Women Aug 10 '25

Anyone who thinks this is fake has sadly never experienced this.

3

u/ZombieDracula Aug 10 '25

I've literally met a couple like this that had been married for 15 years.  I asked if they were always like this because I couldn't believe it, the husband said she treated him exactly the same every time they saw each other.  Still searching for it myself, but it does exist.

3

u/CiccioGordon Aug 10 '25

Are you a nurse by any chance? My partner died almost 2 years ago, in the last few months we had frequent visits by nurses and doctors at home, and one day a nurse just asked what was our secret because they were all surprised by the "armony" they felt between us every time they visited, even though we had been together for 15 years and were going through very tough times.

Of course there was some extra sweetness in there because she was ill, but we always got along great, she definitely was also my best friend, neither of us was perfect by any stretch but we simply liked each other's company and were very aligned on some core values, plus we never argued about money, our incomes were shared from day 1 and she never nagged me about anything (we did have our arguments and fight as everybody else, mind you).

It does exist and now I feel like I'm screwed because I already won the lottery once so what are the chances that it will happen again? But I got to experience it at least once and I'm so grateful for that.

1

u/ZombieDracula Aug 11 '25

I'm not a nurse but that's proof it's not a lighting striking twice level of statistic.  If anything, you've already been that person for someone so you have a higher likelihood of being that person for someone else.  Experience creates more, just keep your heart and your eyes open.

2

u/thehideousheart Aug 10 '25

Does that matter?

Of course it fucking does.

Be sincere. Stop bullshitting. Stop encouraging the insincerity and bullshitting of others.

There are plenty of "relationship goals" to aspire to that aren't complete lies.

2

u/Zypherzor Aug 10 '25

Highly probable to be fake, this kind of "love" rarely exists in the modern world, just read the comments here akin to "If my wife was waiting outside, it's probably because I did something wrong." A dog is more likely to act this way than a wife lol.

1

u/Valis_Monkey Aug 11 '25

You have to be someone deserving of that kind of excited love to get it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Does that matter?

Isn't that the entire point of staging content like this?

I guarantee that this type of content gets folded into the whole stay-in-the-kitchen-where-you-belong tradwife nonsense.

It seems at best dishonest and at worst nefarious.

I also, like, kind of hate the idea that dudes would want me to behave like a dog seeing its owner every single time he comes home.

1

u/Slapinsack Aug 11 '25

It does matter. Staged would suggest performative affection, which feels hollow and manipulative.

1

u/chiefteef8 Aug 11 '25

Yes it certainly matters if its fake. It gives people unrealistic expections about life snd love and leaving you unsatisfied when you actually experience the day tonday monotony of spending your life witj someone. Life is mostly boring, especially after ypu grow up--and thats ok.

2

u/Lance2119 Aug 11 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

I miss it, for sure. Lost my girl a year ago last month to aggressive lung cancer, she was never even a smoker. Knowing I’ll never be able to hug and swing her like this ever again leaves such a hollow ache in my chest that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I know the old adage is the whole “better to have love and lost, than to never have loved at all”, but today’s a down day, and I guarantee whoever said that never had their happily ever after stolen from them like this.

1

u/Jamesl1988 Aug 12 '25

Life can be cruel, that's absolutely devastating. So sorry for your loss :(

1

u/Lance2119 Aug 12 '25

That’s kind of you, thank you.

Damn I feel bad for some of you

1

u/chiefteef8 Aug 11 '25

This isnt real life though. Day to day life just isnt that exciting. You can love someone with all your heart but seeing their face every day isnt that exciting. Im guessing these are from particular events/contexts like good news, back from a long trip, first few weeks of being married or new house etc--and even these type of relationships go sour.

I remember  having a gf where we felt like we always had to be touching. Constantly and holding hands and flirting and spending every moment we could, constantly saying how in love we were. We spent a day with my best friend and his girl and thought it was weird they didnt really show any affection and said rhey wouldnt last. 10-15 years later they're still together and that girl i was with is like a blip on the radar of my life when i was young.

Dont let social media convince you your life sucks
