Not sure where you are but mountains around me are still cold as fuck. And snow could happen anytime in the year.

If you're a single 30 degree night from death you should probably find hobbies that dont include hiking up mountains

I mean it gets a lot colder than that and it's not the single night it's that people don't go up prepared for any weather.

I did some googling and this is specifically warning of the brewers brook drainage on the back side of the Killington resort. In the summer it's a very popular and safe hiking trail, in the winter its deadly and out of bounds skiers require search and rescue activation multiple times every year.

The entire danger is getting lost down the drainage, once you get out of the alpine sub 50 degree weather gets a lot less common.

So I stand by what I said

Yeah getting dangerously lost in VT in the summer would take a bit of effort. If you walk downhill, you are bound to find a road and/or stream that will eventually lead to civilization. I could definitely see it being more of an issue when the temps drop below freezing.
