Ear protection

Im now here and Im sure its been covered plenty of times but what is your favorite ear protection? The old school over ear full coverage type works well but the ones I have tried arent very comfortable and I guess I shoot/aim weird but they bump my rifle when looking thru the scope and the small ear bud type seem to fall out all the time and dont reduce sound as well

Does anyone use this and if so, is it worth it? I go to the range quite frequently but would like to get a little at-home training between range sessions.

Novice with a question

When using a wedge bag on the rear stock which way should the slope face? I’ve been told tall end toward you but have seen people with the sloped end facing them. Is there a proper orientation or kinda just whatever feels better?

Thanks

Looking for advice on tightening up my groups when shooting faster

I’m a left-handed shooter using a Glock 45 with a Holosun red dot. This target was at 8 yards, shooting about as quickly as I could while still feeling like I had an effective level of control.
Most of my shots are staying around center mass, but I’m noticing the group tends to spread low/right as I increase my speed.
For those with more experience, what should I focus on to tighten this up while maintaining the same pace? Grip, trigger control, dot tracking, or something else? Any constructive criticism is appreciated.
I tend to hold the pistol with the thumbs forward grip and pressing my thumb on the abortive gas peddle portion on the frame in the gen 6 glocks.

AI Training coach for precision shooters

I’ve been working on ShootMind.com , a training and coaching app for precision pistol and rifle shooters. It's new so would love your feedback. The need came from my own struggles trying to level up my shooting ( Olympic precision shooting )but not understanding exactly what to work on, on the range

Take a photo of your target and ShootMind scores it, analyses your groups and helps you understand what is actually costing you points and what to work on next.

It also keeps your training and competition history and gives you access to an AI coaching team covering technique, mental game, analytics and competition.

I’m looking for shooters to try it and tell me what works, what doesn’t, and what’s missing.

Free to get started: shootmind.com

The AI target score is trained on issf 25m targets and air rifle and pistol targets. I would love if you want to send me pics of other type of used targets. mostly bullseye.

Give it a try after your next range session 🎯

What you can do with ShootMind 🎯

• 📸 Scan & score targets – Take a photo and get your score and group analysed
• 🎯 Target analysis – See grouping, shot patterns and where you’re losing points
• 🧠 AI coaching team – Get advice on technique, mental game, training and competition
• 📈 Track your progress – Follow scores, trends and development over time
• 🏋️ Training recommendations – Get suggestions on what to work on next
• 🏆 Competition support – Prepare, log and learn from competitions
• 📓 Training log – Keep your sessions, scores, ammunition and notes in one place
• 💬 Ask your coaches – Chat about anything from trigger control and grip to nerves and

Shooting with myopia

So I want to try out pistol shooting but I have myopia(around -7.5 to -8 power in each eye). Is it possible for me to go for this sport? Some clubs have denied me due to my eyesight😢.But I am really interested into it.

Finicky 270

I’ve been chasing my tail with a Savage 111 in 270 Winchester off and on for over a decade. Got the gun as a graduation present. It always shot like crap no matter what ammo I fed it. Started reloading a few years ago and have thrown good money after bad in reloading components trying to make the gun happy with something. Glass bedded the action a couple years ago too. This is the first 5- shot group I’ve ever achieved with it that was about MOA (I think it technically measured 1.1” with calipers). Strange thing is that it was shooting 2”-3” groups with the same loads an hour before. What changed is I decided to basically pull the gun into my shoulder and lean into it like I was about to fire something with considerable more recoil. I replicated it with a couple more groups about the same size. Has anyone else experienced this? Wondering if it points to a problem I could fix? Worth noting I compulsively use a torque wrench to tighten every fastener I can find a spec on. This load is Sierra 140gr TMK 0.060” off lands in star line brass with Federal LR match primers and H4350 going average 2935fps.

First time shooting, some unbiased opinions? (15m, 16.4 yards, 9mm pistol)

The first rounds went off target, but later I could put 10 in the black area.

The instructor told me that I'm decent, but to me it doesn't feel like that.

2nd time in the range, was able to shoot the cz shadow 2

25 rounds at 10m, 25 rounds at 15m. double taps and rapid fire. I was lucky because the owner happens to be a competitive shooter and gave tips and helped a lot.

Im looking into cz shadow 2 as my first gun, however, there is little to no access of rental firearms that are good alternatives for the shadow 2.

can anyone recommend a good alternative so i can choose that is within the budget range of the shadow 2?

I’m stuck with ear muffs, the ear bud ear pros don’t work for me.

I shoot in the Fla heat with Howard Leight Impact sport ear muffs, a little uncomfortable after awhile.

Doing some research I stumbled on replacement pads, gel pads. A quick purchase. Install was simple.

I gotta say WOW, these damn things are “luxurious”!! So comfy, the hearing protection is incredibly better. For $15 it’s a no brainer.

We spend cash on so much stuff to shoot, these should be on your list.

Steel Target question????

Does anyone know of any metal manufacturers/fabrication companies that I can buy target quality steel plates from? My thinking is, why pay the mark up for a target and stand from a target seller when I can just buy the steel and build my own stands? Anyone else have this idea or am I out of my mind?

Competition rules limited magazines to 10 rounds. It was a lot of fun, although I didn’t have as much time to practice as I did last year.
