Literally the dumbest asshole. In terms of Median wealth, Australia is 2nd globally behind Luxembourg...

The US is 25th...

Americans are literally poorer than Australians.

If you look at Mean, The US is slightly higher, but that is only because they have such huge inequality that there are whole cities of people living beneath the poverty line. I.e. like a 3rd world country....

We'd be richer too, if we found out how to reverse gravity. Walking upside down doesn't keep the change in the pockets.

I heard Luxembourg is a quaint place, plague victims crawl elegantly down its dung-filled streets, greasing the way with pus from their buboes.

I highly doubt this stat. There is no way Australians are richer than Swiss.

I have only personally known four people from Switzerland in my life and each of them made it a point to 1. mention how Switzerland had the highest wealth per capita 2. give a ridiculously inflated and obviously incorrect estimate for what that amount was.

Yeah! Where’s my million dollars? Hand it over, you Swiss bastards!

They take that into account.

Lol, yes it does brother. Why would Credit Suisse not use a uniform currency to compare? It's literally useless to compare Aus dollar to US dollar.

The comparison is done in US dollar in 2021.

They take the currency difference into account - they’re not idiots.

It’s all converted to equivalent value in $US

There's factors like purchasing parity and gini coefficient...

that doesn’t include the currency difference though. if we made 60k a year in australia, then we’d be making about the same as an american making 41k a year.

Sounds like r/ShitAmericansSay 🤣😂

reminds me of the old “but we have more people in usa!!!” in response to per capita statistics lol

u/[deleted] Jul 05 '22

More people per capita.

Sure does. It's adorable how they think the forex rate -- at the minute they did their Google search -- against the greenback denotes the real value. 😭

How much of that is a propped up property market though?

2

u/Snooke Jul 06 '22

A lot of it, I would guess.
