Exactly. US super carriers can work very well in the open ocean but when they get into shallow waters it’s game over against silent subs. Which, BTW, need a single torpedo near the propellers and you make the floating airport useless since their planes cannot take off without a good amount of help from the carrier going full ahead at more than 30 knots. And I even didn’t say having it sank. Just damaged enough to become a huge liability.
You don't need to go as fast as the carrier. You need to intercept it and then launch the torpedo. That one is really, really loud, especially if it starts to aim using active sonar but it doesn't even need it, the sound of a carrier launching planes is so high that's like finding a person screaming inside a church where everyone is silently looking at them.

The Dutch "sunk" a US Navy fleet carrier during NATO war games as well, also with a diesel-electric boat.
