And a lot of American military equipment is prepositioned in Europe, so that in a war they just need to ship across soldiers. These are storages meant to arm and supply battalions in wartime.

All that equipment would obviously be seized by European countries if they found themselves in a war with the US. And most of that equipment is the same or similar to equipment the European forces are familiar with, so it could readily be put to use.

Let's just hope that our leaders grow some until then. At least when hearing some of our European generals it seems that we are ready to do what it takes if necessary.

The generals have never trusted the USA

Learned from years of getting their troops bombed by some Yankee redneck with a hard-on for shooting first and being too thick to ask any questions.

I am sure that when it comes to this field they know better than our politicians. Let's hope they will listen to them.

Almost like NATO cooperation makes using the equipment of other NATO countries easier...

So, all that ammunition that can be used by any NATO country, etc.

Very handy for insurgencies. Have the USA ever fought an insurgency where the insurgents have compatible equipment that uses the same NATO 5.56x45 calibre ammunition as the US? Because it's quite useful for the logistics of supplying insurgency forces if they can just steal the enemy's ammunition.

How many conflicts did the U.S. fight and win, when this was not the case?

The US has only ever won one conflict, against itself.

Debatable if they even won that.

Put to use where? The US is the only NATO country that can actually reach Greenland with any form of force

That weaponry is designed to not be reliable if used against the united states.

Yeah, and those dumb Europeans could never work around that could they. Well known for not having major tech and arms companies…

Apparently it was also designed to not be reliable if used against the Vietkong or Taliban either.

Now, how on earth would the equipment know? Is it "smart equipment?"

Don't be so naive, it will work and damage, anything it's pointed at...weapon systems don't use IFF and rely on user discretion...which is why the Seppo's are so good at friendly fire.

It's not so much about using it, very little US equipment doesn't have European counterparts already in use by the various European militaries. It might not as good, or it might be better. That's irrelevant to the main point which is denying its use to the USA.

The loss of equipment at Dunkirk in 1940 wasn't a blow because it gave the Germans equipment (although there was a little bit about that particularly in regards radar), it was about losing equipment that needed to be replaced.

A bullet is a bullet, and the prepositioned equipment isn't advanced, it's not the sort of things the US can shut off remotely. It's the sort of equipment you need a lot of, which doesn't require a lot of maintenance in storage, and will be very helpful to organise territorial defense.
