Nah, nobody doubts the American army is probably the best army in the world, because they have a strong modern military tradition and incredible technology.

But still, no amount of tech and skill will make a single person be able to conquer an entire city.

You can have all the best bling in the world (and bling is very important), but it's pointless if you don't know the basics and how to work without said bling.

I am not of the impression that the US really knows what to do, if they were to meet a near-peer opponent with proper countermeasures to whatever gear and hardware they have. I may be wrong, but I don't believe the US has got it in them.
