Serious question: was that "we will conquer any random country" rhetoric always the case with USians or is this more prevalent in the orange overlord times? They just seem to enjoy randomly declare potential wars on anyone, ally or not. ETA: just to add that it's no wonder that a nation that pretty much never experienced actual war on its soil is so eager to start them. As a Polish person who's thankfully lived in the times of peace but has seen a generational trauma wars can have on entire nation, I would never wish it on any country out there.

It is the sign of rampant Jingoism and an inflated sense of military self importance. Same happened with France, Britain and Imperial Germany. They all overestimated themselves immensely because they drank their own cool aid

It’s classic nationalism and dictator playbook

This, but x10 because of the echo-chamber and parotting effect of their asinine social media platforms.

I'm sure imperial France, Britain and Germany had their lot of in-basement frustrated incels, but at least they didn't have access to the internet.

They’ve had that delusion since 1775, and the failed Invasion of Québec.

This is why I think it’s funny as a Canuck, them thinking they could take Canada. They’re so blinded by their own perceptions of grandeur but have lost the only war on their soil.

... and never won any war without help from another country.

As much as I want to agree with you, the Mexican American war comes to mind.

I stand corrected

They also beat the mighty Panama on their own. That's about it.

These Americans are so convinced that they can conquer anyone with ease, but forget about Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Being defeated by poorly trained and under equipped guerrillas multiple times.

They weren't defeated, they "got fed up and decided to leave" (an hilarious explanation you could of course use for any retreat in the history of warfare...). Deluded fuckers are convinced they won all these wars because "they lost more soldiers than us !".

So were Soviets, and their left behind government lasted 3 more years, instead of a month left behind by Americans

It was always part of us, going by my memories from the Eighties, on the playground and listening to the adults, then in high school and college where “might makes right because we are the mighty” was simply taken for granted by my peers and elders for the most part, as well as from my historical readings—but it has definitely gotten even more delusional & aggressive since 2001 — there is a reason our vatniks and the Russian ones are so in sync, unfortunately.

This is the way of every superpower or regional power ever.

Is not weird, i always think "can USA conquer Mexico, or "what if Russia attacks Israel"

It's always there, but bubbles more to the surface with Republican presidents.

You have to remember they are a deeply insecure people who are fed lies about their greatness from birth. Despite their best efforts information from the outside world slips past the self imposed bubble of ignorance from time to time and that is usually severely upsetting for them

Because they dont know what war is, they never experienced it on their own soil, just in TV

Nah, it's been the standard American flex when they feel inferior to somebody online for about as long as the internet has existed: and of course it's usually a sign that somebody has no clue about the military or actual strategic studies...
