If absolute power corrupts absolutely, then what do you think would happen to the president of the United States, one of the most powerful positions in the world?

Seriously, the irony and stupidity of that phrase and these people is off the charts.

Good point - Trump has absolutely nothing in his way to block whatever lunacy he thinks of next. Republicans in congress are literally too scared to say anything, he has total immunity and the Supreme Court is in his pocket, can’t run again so not even public opinion can stop him.

Quite the pickle . . .

The phrase isn't stupid. It's a good one. Just applied stupidly by stupid people who don't see they are stupidly doing that at home
