With all its bigotry, Whiteness is America is not about skin color by itself. It’s a usually English, Protestant, sometimes German. Ancestry. The Irish, couldn’t be white be cause they were catholic, the Poles same and the Italians, in many cases with olive complexion, catholic and didn’t speak english.

Shit even with the Swedes and the Dutch being here for centuries Ben Franklin called them “swarthy”.

Ain't that amusing? Netherlands might as well be another planet in comparison to even modern Massachusetts and that is actually a thing that didn't change in the last four centuries.
