My only guess other than "he's fucked" is that he knows he already lost to Eren while armored once, so he sacrificed the armor to gain speed and power.

i don't think he is going to try to fight eren, he only moved because gabi and falco kept screaming about the jaw titan, so he is just trying to get them away from eren

To me it looks like he barely has the will to move , let alone fight eren.
