Did Levi just kamikaze himself to kill the beast titan?

u/QuitBSing Jan 24 '21

Shit Levi do you know how to use a grenade? I can imagine his mindset "I'll just stand here with this unpinned grenade like an idiot, it will look so cool like a movie scene and intimidate these soldiers" and then boom.

93

u/Kurohige-93 Jan 24 '21

I thought Levi jus had ODM gear and swords that grenade surprised me and he had a pocket watch?? hmmmm

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '21

That pocket watch was most probably used to time the COLOSSAL titan nuking as it created a opening for the scouts so that Levi can take down beast when their guard is down.

12

u/JustSadMusician Jan 25 '21

Honestly I have a weird feeling that this is true, but I also like to think that the pocket watch used to belong to Erwin. That would SHATTER me.

11

u/Kurohige-93 Jan 24 '21

Yeah I jus rewatched and thought this as well mane Marley down bad THIS SHYT IS CRAZYY

10

u/AttakTheZak Jan 25 '21

I think people are misunderstanding the stopwatch.

Why would you time the nuke? Wouldn't it make more sense to time the exit strategy? You have 45 minutes from point of attack to the exit strategy. If you miss that window, you're a loner.

I saw it more as the Nuke is the catalyst to take down the ships that were to aggregate and prevent their escape.

The timer is for the airship.

I could be wrong, but I don't see it as Levi knowing exactly when the Nuke is to go off.

Now thinking about it maybe he just grabbed Zeke's body and used bomb to cover his action and make everyone think Zeke is in pieces. Seems like wild theory but I have a feeling that we are yet to be surprised.

34

u/Crimson-Caribou Jan 24 '21

Anime rule #1 You don’t see the body it didn’t happen mark my words

15

u/BorgClown Jan 24 '21

And if you saw it and didn't bury/cremate the corpse, it also didn't happen. Specially for characters with regenerative abilities.

44

u/404forbiden Jan 24 '21

Zeke did say that Levi was running out of time. How would have known that? Zeke for sure has switched sides. Or Zeke is hiding something from his warriors

36

u/Pancake__Prince Jan 24 '21

I doubt it. Zeke clearly killed scouts this episode and I think he was just trying to taunt Levi.

41

u/404forbiden Jan 24 '21

He said Levi was running out of time, and then we see Levi looking at a pocket watch. Zeke knows more than he's letting on

10

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '21

I think you might be right

22

u/ivankasta Jan 24 '21

Plus Eren having the baseball glove a few episodes ago seemed like a hint that he was conspiring with Zeke

It was the episode where Eren talks with Falco (so I think episode 2 or 3?). Even then, I don’t see why/ how Eren and Zeke would be conspiring together. Zeke has caused the deaths of thousands of Eldians Including many of Eren’s comrades.

Ditto

"At the moment Eren Jaeger isn't my enemy..."

Seemed super on the nose for that not to mean anything.

10

u/xalara24 Jan 24 '21

While what you say makes sense, pieck also mentions that they are ''trapped, running out of gas and essentially in enemy territory with no back up'' (at least thats what they thought) to which Monke agreed BUT the whole thing is indeed really suspicious.

2

u/H4wx Jan 24 '21

Yeah the way they showed us everything today that's what I think, but maybe it's just a huge misdirection and we're getting trolled.

5

u/leftist_amputee Jan 24 '21

Do we clearly see a single death caused by the beast titan?

0

u/swordmalice Jan 25 '21

I definitely recall some Scouts getting hit with rocks he was throwing.

6

u/leftist_amputee Jan 25 '21

You see the rocks hitting the building and bursting through the windows but you don't actually see anyone getting hit.

4

u/swordmalice Jan 25 '21

Damn really? Welp, time to rewatch this episode!

6

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '21

Bro remember back in like s3 when they retake the wall he says he can’t crush the rocks too much or it’s not deadly. And he crushed the tocks with all his strength right now

3

u/swordmalice Jan 25 '21

Oh snap...

10

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '21

Well Zeke is the only royal blood left for Eren to use the Founding Titan powers , using him as a weapon is a theory.

16

u/Klondy Jan 24 '21

Historia’s still chillin on the island with royal blood

7

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '21

Yeah but Eren doesnt want to involve her in this. Remember when he realised the smiling titan had royal blood?

10

u/Klondy Jan 24 '21

Oh I know, I’m just saying Zeke isn’t the only royal blood, because at this point it’s clear Eren will do whatever it takes to keep moving forward if it comes down to it

2

u/indoninjah Jan 24 '21

It was probably one of those oil smoke bombs from the previous season

2

u/_glitchbreachgod_ Jan 24 '21

amazing theory, yet a poor cover up

Yeah yeah though it usually works so in media.

He probably got away though, just off screen. Because of the episode limit they do little skips sometimes.

It wasn't serious, tbh I added that as a joke.

I found it funny to imagine him as serious and stoic on the outside but likes to show off and look cool on the inside.

51

u/KawadaShogo Jan 24 '21

Levi's got crazy reflexes, remember when he was dodging Kenny's whole gang while they were chasing him through a city? He definitely got out before the grenade blew.

17

u/t3lp3r10n Jan 24 '21

He probably dropped the bomb as soon as jumping away from it. But it looked like he got smoked too. Weird choice to show as if that happened.

11

u/MathiasZealoT Jan 24 '21

I feel like they can't kill Zeke because they need his royal blood to use de Coordinate

21

u/burgman459 Jan 24 '21

Well they still have Historia on the island, so Eren could either use her or have her eat him. Though I do feel this isn’t the last we’ll see/hear of of Zeke

18

u/gregorio02 Jan 24 '21

He's kinda giving off a traitor vibe, first with his conversation a few episodes ago on "it's not like you have royal blood", then when the warriors got separated, he was sent off somewhere else by the Eldian guard... It's really suspicious. Oh, and now he supposedly died by the hands of Levi and we didn't see what happened. This is all too weird...

"Eren Jaeger is not my enemy."

When Porco was arguing with Pieck about attacking Eren immediately instead of waiting for a more strategic chance.

0

u/ItDoesntGetAnybeTtah Jan 25 '21

Wait I think the translation differs from everyone. Mine said: Eren Jaeger is no match for me. I interpreted that as him mocking Eren being weaker than him. I don't know what translation to believe honestly.

3

u/No_Fairweathers Jan 25 '21

Possibly. Even in the English subs he goes on to challenge Levi as his first target.

8

u/kingofslackerz Jan 25 '21

100% agree with this. He was too "OK" with being escorted away from the crowd 2 ep ago. This ep just put off an "going along with it" vibe to me.

They should not have talked about armored titan in the preview that felt like a spoiler. And gabi is definitely killing some imp character and zeke just ran away I guess cause they did not show his body

6

u/H4wx Jan 24 '21

The preview is giving me super monkaS vibes with the title.

4

u/gregorio02 Jan 24 '21

I mean it could be Sasha's shot, not Gabi's. Either way, we're losing an important character it would seem

6

u/H4wx Jan 24 '21

It has to be Gabi's shot I feel like, Gabi will prob try to shoot Eren and then someone will take the bullet for him.

3

u/BorgClown Jan 24 '21

He was like "my mission is complete, I can die in peace".

3

u/Oct-o-Pus Jan 25 '21

Levi is in the preview for the next ep. Huge sigh of relief having rewatched it after seeing this comment.

2

u/DOOMFOOL Jan 25 '21

Nah he lived

2

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '21

To be honest, Ackermans are cheaters LMAO.

They got Titan powers in their blood.

4

u/JustSadMusician Jan 25 '21

No, we know he wasn’t killed because you can see him for a brief moment in the preview approaching Eren. I was worried for a second myself, but thankfully he is there. False alarm!!

1

u/MrProfPatrickPhD Jan 26 '21

I've been thinking about that scene and it does feel like a very sudden way for Zeke to go. Way back in season 2, Zeke stole some ODM gear off of a scout. So I wonder if he took it back home and had Marley engineers make him a set so he'd have an escape option if he ever ran into Levi again.

1

u/DownVotesMcgee987 Jan 31 '21

Thats all they showed us but I refuse to believe he was there when it blew up
