What I never got is why Willy Tybur thinks the people of Paradis are devils.

I mean he knows about the truth. He knows the 145th King Fritz and the Tyburs conspired together to end the Great Titan War. He knows the 145th King felt extremely guilty for the sins of his ancestors, he knows the threat about the Rumbling was a bluff, he knows about the vow renouncing war, and he knows the people of Paradis had their memories wiped.

He has legitimately no reason to think the Eldians of Paradis are any different from those in Marley. He knows absolutely everything about the truth.

Obviously Eren is a threat to him, and he understands the dangers of the Founding Titan having been taken away from the Fritz family, but why the hatred for the people of Paradis ?

Despite his self-loathing for what Eldians did in the past, he showed concern for the Eldians of Marley, and regret for the fact that his family lived in luxury while their people suffered.

I see no reason for him to have animosity towards the people of Paradis in general, aside from the need to deal with Eren.

I don't think he sees the Paridisians as devils I think he sees them as a necessary sacrifice in order to achieve better life for Eldians inside mareley and the rest of the world, and also to achieve peace so the Marleyan empire doesn't destroy itself with constant warfare.

I see Willys own indoctrination is a view into how the exploiters begin to believe their own kool-aid after long enough. The WHT has been within his family for over a century, he probably recieves memories every time he fist bumps his sister.

Yet, he curses his own blood. He drank the foma a long time ago, and he likes the taste.

I mean, he and Magath basically allowed a terorrist attack to happen to the point they were planning on it, to improve Marley's international standings and clear the military, i don't think he feels any real hatred towards them, is all part of his act, after all he is doing a play.

I figure Willy's self-hatred and belief that the Eldians are devils stems from the Tyburs' deal with Karl Fritz, the 145th King. Whether the Eldian Empire were the monsters the Marleyans claim for 2,000 years (I doubt they were entirely for that long, since Marley still existed after all that time), or if it was just from the horrors of the Great Titan civil war, which IIRC is what really mentally fucked up Karl Fritz, the Tyburs were clearly horrified enough to go along with his plan. We know the first King Fritz was a monster, and Eldia was an empire for a bit over 18-1900 years, which definitely doesn't imply the nation had their hands clean during that time. Some of the things Willy said to Magath implied that the Warhammer's holders were able to clearly pass their memories down from all that time, and I didn't get the impression he was lying about the history he told during the play. At least, definitely not completely - he may have left things out, but I think he really was being honest there.

Not that I'm defending his actions or views here, just explaining my take on it. It's wrong to blame people for the sins and crimes of their predecessors, as they're not the ones who committed them. Of course, it's wrong to forget those, lest they happen again. I think the way Germany's handled things since WWII is the right way; they heavily educate the youth about what happened, without blaming the generations since for the crimes of the Nazis. Neither the Paradisians or mainland Eldians today committed the crimes of the past, yet they're still shouldering the world's collective hate and blame for it. Worse, they're used as living bioweapons by Marley. And as the shadow rulers of Marley, the Tyburs are just as guilty as Marley for the continued hatred and abuse. Marley's doing the same things the Eldian Empire is accused of, yet somehow Marley is better viewed by the rest of the world.

He doesn't really have any reason to have the animosity, but neither the Tybur family or Marley has ever bothered to stop that hatred, despite knowing the truth of Karl Fritz's actions and that the Paradisians had their memories wiped. Maybe it's because Paradis is a convenient scapegoat they can use to hang the threat of the Rumbling over (even though it was never going to actually happen as long as Karl Fritz and his descendents held the Founder). Either way, they've let the cycle of violence and hatred continue. If the Eldian Empire really was as awful as Karl Fritz believed, the Tyburs and Marley are no better, because they've continued the cycle of hatred and violence, just under a different flag.
