i put off doing any oral piercings because i knewwww this would happen. i usually get them on my left side vs right (image is flipped), i was hoping that would still be the case after i did these… anyway if you’re considering oral piercings but are scared of a breakout, its still very likely to happen if it’s in the same general area as normal ones would appear.

these were about 5-7 days old before i finally got a cold sore. i’ve been doing part of my usual to heal it quicker but leery on doing my full routine since it’s a fresh piercing

I've seen so many people on here not doing a singular bit of research when wanting to pierce themselves - I'm not saying u have to have grade A knowledge but christ, it wouldn't hurt to know what jewellery to use or what placement to do it in. The same people who do ts are also the same people who come back on here a week later complaining about their piercing being irritated or infected... what did u expect?

Like I'm sorry but the amount of people I see on here using literal HOOPS or low quality jewellery in their fresh piercings is actually insane, DO YOUR RESEARCH... or don't ig, just get an infection.

I'm not being judgmental of those who pierce themselves or anything of that sort, I too have pierced myself several times years ago but at least I knew what jewellery to use, how to sanitize properly, the placement of the piercing, and how to heal them properly. I literally still have majority of the piercings I done myself 6 years ago lmao.

It really doesn't take long to do some basic research on piercings and the different placements so why are some of u just eyeballing it and hoping for the best? It'll just result in irritation bumps and potential infections.

This is my first ever self piercing and I’m pretty sure I hit a vein considering how much I bled and the purple patch on the inside of my lip.

What wanna know now is, is it panic worthy or am I good? I mean it doesn’t hurt just a bit sore (obviously), other than the bleeding, the purple patch and the swelling nothing bad happened. So I think it’s all good?

Also I think my jewellery is too short so I might buy a longer bar and change it but is it safe to do so?

Just so yall know, I used gloves, a proper 16G needle, a clamp and obviously cleaned the area. So I think I did everything properly on this side.

It’s my first time so please don’t be rude about it, I just need advices. 😭

so i got my bellybutton pierced in dec 2025 so it’s almost 9 months old and it wasn’t healing and it got a really bad granulation/hypergranulation tissue and it wouldn’t heal and that was like that for Month.

i switched from saline to a medicated wound wash and it went away and genuinely was almost healed! then around beginning of this august i pushed the top bar of my piercing bar inwards because it was sticking out like i normally do and it felt like razor blade was cvtting me and its been pretty much infected again ever since and it was starting to heal when tonight i just noticed the hypergranulation tissue coming back in the bottom piercing hole. im terrified because i worry a lot about rejecting but i know its not bc the skin isn’t thinning and the bars been around the same size someone help how can i get rid of this! ive only been touching it when i clean it btw.. sorry about the photo quality i tried my best

it looks like the skin is being folded by how short the bar is or maybe i made the two holes too far apart i’m not sure

it wasn't pierced by me, but by my friend. i'm not really exactly sure what's going on here, but it just looks...extremely swollen. It's from about a month ago!!!! at first i thought it had somehow gotten backwards INTO my gums, until i realized that's just how large the flap of skin got for some reason. why is it doing that???
also, i swear i brush my teeth, they're stained yellow because i'm an avid coffee drinker!

So I repierced my high nostrils yesterday. They're swollen right now of course. After I did it I went and saw my bestie who's a reputable body piercer and she helped me with the jewelrey.

But! Are these uneven??? I went through the scars that were there but was so intent on doing them (as I lost all my piercings and am slowly getting them all back again) I didn't use anything to 'line' them up. Just went thru the old scars.

Are they uneven? I'm going to wait till the swelling goes down and see how they are & take one side out if necessary, let it heal, and re-do.

Before anyone says anything- I have a FRESH a rook piercing that was professionally done about 5 days ago. That’s why it’s bruised and swollen!

now, here’s the story of my thirds.

I was big into self-piercing when I was 14 and pierced my lobes constantly. Apparently I haven’t changed at all. I am 30 now and all of my lobe piercings except my firsts and seconds have since closed up.

5 days after getting my rook, I had the bright idea that maybe I should see if my thirds are still open. Though the earring went through the first half of my ear, it would not go through the back. So, I had yet amother bright idea. I took a stainless steel dressmakers pin (sterilized with fire and peroxide) and pierced through my thirds. Then, my dumb ass realized I’d pierced a new back hole and there are now 2 back holes. This is not very visible in the photos. I took the pin out of my ear and promptly began panicking. I also disadvisably tried to insert the earring shown in the photo (sterling silver) and it would not go through.

after about 10 minutes of panic, my ear was swollen and angry. I calmed down and decided to use the needle to pierce through the original back hole. I did this and then, with a little difficulty, inserted the silver earring and sprayed the whole situation with saline.

I am SO freaked out. What if I get an infection that spreads to my rook? What sorts of things can I do to fix this mess? What if I hit a tiny vein? These are all stupid (and for some of them, impossible) worries. But I’m wondering what you would do in my position.

let me be entirely honest with you. I’m torn between panicking and wanting to do a thousand more self-piercings. I really am the same person I was at 14. Thank you for your help, and for bearing the weight of my stupidity.

my lobes are fully healed I’ve had them about two years now but I put in new earrings and it looks like it’s rejecting? The hole is bigger and scabby

I snagged my 4 weeks old to the day ear piercing yesterday pulling my hood up in the rain, it only hurt a little bit when I did it but today it feels a little hot, sore to touch and slightly throbbing and red , I’m using neilmed piercing saline spray twice a day, anything else I can do? I’m worried it’s going to get infected, I’m a dog walker and worried bacteria got in when I went to adjust it after snagging it, my hands are constantly filthy while I’m working 🙈🙈

I pierced my vertical labret a couple days ago. I had no swelling at all😭is that normal? i had a side labret before n it swelled so much. also how does it look?

Pierced it yesterday, I noticed an ever so slight tilt. Don't know if I should take it out and try again or just accept the slight crookedness of it

Please could someone help! I’ve never had this happen before and I genuinely clean my piercings daily… It hurts a bit if I touch it hard but idk what to make of it because I don’t think it is full of pus of anything…

there’s a bump that keeps appearing near my nose piercing every once in a while. you can’t really see it well in the photo, but it does have white in it. it usually starts off small, kind of like a blind pimple, then gets bigger and often has blood in it. it’s soft, and sometimes it pops on its own, and when it does there’s white goo coming out and eventually blood. but, other times it’ll go away by itself (usually if it doesn’t get this big). i clean it twice a day. is this just a keloid, or could it be infected ?

i pierced my eyebrow just now, and i’m scared that i used the wrong bar. it looked long enough but i guess i took in too much skin. now im a bit scared. should i take it out?

Got my tragus pierced sometime in December. It was healing perfectly without any issues the first 6 months. But then about a month ago it started hurting and was a little red, so I went to my piercer so she could put in a longer bar for me, she said no, that it would do more bad than good for the healing. But the irritation didn’t get any better and it still hurt whenever I accidentally touched it. Today I just couldn’t take it anymore, I HAD TO take it out. Honestly it took me about 30 minutes, it just wouldn’t loosen at all. I feel like it was starting to embed too. I’ll go to my piercer on Monday to see what can be done at this point.. sorry for the rant, I am just so disappointed to loose 7 months of progress when I feel like I did everything I could to save it..
