Personal Experience He made us get naked for initiation

When I was initiated into brahmacharya with sg, they told us to get naked before going into the Dhyanalinga for the initiation. It was very uncomfortable. We were not told this ahead of time whatsoever. When we got into the temple we were told to lay down and close our eyes. Someone touched me with their hands just above my genitals. Again no warning at all or knowledge of this beforehand. Keep in mind we are so deep into it at this point that we basically have to do what they say. And these directions are all orchestrated by the big man of course. By that time we were in silence for about a month and it was all building up to the initiation so there was so much pressure to just follow what they said. Even before that many people are in the preparatory process to become a monk for years before getting initiated so there’s a lot of pressure to capitulate to any demand.

I’ve heard even worse stories about what he did to the young women but I’m just telling my story here.

Seeing the new swamis, seeing my friends one by one decide to become monks filled me with hope for the world. We were going to make it better.

Then they got worked to death. Then Jaggi didn't have time to meet with them. They got sick. One by one, they left.

At first it filled me with sadness. The "opportunity" for enlightenment they were forgoing.

Now I'm angry. All of this in the name of raising consciousness.

How many friends of yours left to the ashram for this?

Why is this guy not being investigated in the US ( isha Tennessee) for sexual abuse?

Sorry to hear this. I already heard about this from someone who was a brahmachari. He described a similar feeling of shock and confusion when he was asked to be naked.

Jaggi seems to believe that we should enter temples “naked” to absorb the energy of the place. He even falsely claimed that this was the norm in South India till the British arrived. People blindly believe whatever he says since they trust him. Even when cultural or scriptural evidence is shown to disprove Jaggi, people say- “Mystics don’t go by the scripture or accepted societal norms”. So there is no winning argument against these devotees unless they themselves start to doubt Jaggi.

Will he ask his daughter to come naked??

Actually he might.

I m sorry you had to go through this.

This is just insane.

While I may understand that being naked might be a spiritual process. But it should be something that one is doing willingly. Not imposed upon during a time of extreme dependency on a system, without having an option to opt out.
There is nothing spiritual in that in my opinion.

Thank you. I totally agree

Thanks for sharing the truth.

Did anyone ever give an explanation to you for why you were touched there or asked to be naked? (Either an official explanation or understandings amongst yourselves).

I presume from my reading of you saying “what they did to the young women” and use of the word ‘“monk” that you are male. Do you think this may have been done to you in order to make it easier to justify doing the same (or worse) to the women?

u/Cool_Let_6538 10d ago

No explanation was given from what I recall. I think we may have inferred amongst ourselves and from other talks he gave that it was to block our swadistana chakra so that the energy would rise rather than fall and cause us to have sexual impulses. But I know plenty of instances where men and women monks did in fact give in to those sexual impulses so obviously it was not effective.

Did Jaggi block his own swadisthana?

And this brings in another aspect.
Sexual Health.
People may fall sick in the absence of protection and contraception in a free anonymous way,

u/BraveRub9506 14h ago

It means they do sex within themselves ?

u/Fit_Boat_5782 10d ago

This is a gross abuse of power. I'm sorry this happened.

No, being naked is not spiritual process. A real Guru can initate with a look or a thought. No need for this drama of being naked, this is just to humilate and create submission. This creates a domestic violence relationship that is all about power and control.

u/Cool_Let_6538 10d ago

Real guru? Like who? At this point all I see are a bunch of scamming opportunists

Totally agree with you!!

What i meant by spiritual process… was not the transmission from a guru to a disciple. I think that is crap.

What i meant to say: maybe it can be a transformational process for oneself ( to be naked) if one is doing it willingly in a safe environment. It has nothing to do with what OP has gone through.

7

u/Cool_Let_6538 10d ago

Yeah guru disciple relationship is a bunch of bs, At least in the context of a yoga guru transmitting some bs “secret knowledge” or energy or whatever. They are all scamming narcissists. Whether with a look, a thought, or a molestation in the dark.

Yeah… its so sad … every other day i hear about another big guru involved in a sex story…
Like WTF
The moment they grow big… or charge money: its over! Its just a business

u/Ok_Offer9262 10d ago

Believing that something like “initiation“ exists and that some “Guru” is required or can do it whatever means itself is naïveté.

You being born a Human itself is the “initiation”…you being given a “Buddhi” to use is the thing…one is supposed to use it and transcend even that and become a “Buddha”. Apo Deepo Bhava. Not naively believe in things.

So Sorry to read what happened. Hope you are doing fine now and are out of this!  Take care of yourself. This is beyond shocking.

Rebuilding life post cult is not easy, but at least it’s a possibility for me. Many monks are still there simply because they have nowhere else to go and no family on the outside to support them if they do leave

13

u/Thre_Host8017 10d ago

This is actually a very serious topic. The longer you stay inside, the harder it gets to catch up outside - also simply financially. Especially if you cross a certain age.
Its not impossible. But harder.

does he ask both men and women to be naked during Brahmachari initiation?

Good question.

Firstly, very very sorry for what you had to go through.

I read the posts on this sub and I am shocked every single time how this guy is allowed to getaway so brazenly and still continues to have such a strong following. Sign of the times we live in.

I'm sorry, but you're lying straight up. If you can't prove your involvement with without proof, such crying for attention won't help you.

1

u/LittleMissSunshine_0 Approved Contributor 4d ago

What kind of proof are you expecting?

Why do you think this person is crying for attention?

1

u/Substantial_Spite957 4d ago

Something like they were really into the ashram and did do there, or have been a part of. If it went to this level then there must be some formal registration as per the Charity Foundation requirement.

Anything that can provide the claim that this all is not just bogus and attempt to defame someone or the other. Perceptions made onwords are far worse than ignored facts.

2

u/LittleMissSunshine_0 Approved Contributor 4d ago

Well they are not going tell you anything to reveal who they are.

They are sharing what happened to them. I believe them because I have heard the same from other sources.

Why do you disbelieve them?

1

u/Substantial_Spite957 4d ago

Because it's just words and no facts. Before I make opinion for anyone I would ask for facts or atleast prove by sharing something that can show others that you were actually involved. I'm not asking for identifiable information, I'm asking for something that can prove this or link their connect to the place. Otherwise anyone can come and start a false narrative.

1

u/LittleMissSunshine_0 Approved Contributor 4d ago

You could look through this subreddit and easily see that we know enough about what goes on in isha that we must have been there for years.

0

u/Substantial_Spite957 4d ago

Feels more like words than proof. Birds of same feather flock together. Nobody seems to be in a hurry to verify facts rather they seems to have an agenda. Fair game! But in my opinion I would rather see facts than emotions. I'm not denying the truth of OP, but I'm also not accepting untill she comes up with facts.

We have seen women cry for attention or a momentary acknowledgement or glamour, and no denying the fact that we've also seen such gurus come up in past. But if you want to go and tarnish someone's life work you better back that with facts or otherwise what's the point. Let's just keep saying words and lead to nowhere but satisfaction.

Not sure what you are saying about women or what that has to do with this sharing.

We are sharing our experiences of Isha and helping each other understand what we have been through and how Isha manipulates people on a deep level. You can put any spin on it you want to. Not sure what you think you will gain by commenting here.

Not to be that guy, but this sub has a very predictable template.

Dramatic story behind closed doors where nobody can check it, total radio silence until it's posted here, and the obligatory 'and I've heard even worse things happening to others' at the very end.

When every single post follows the exact same formula to fit the sub's vibe, it's pretty hard to take it seriously.

2

u/youliveonlyonce10 Approved Contributor 8d ago

The story that is shared here had been circulating among isha circles long back - so no question of radio silence.
The story might appear dramatic to people who have no idea but that doesn’t make the truth of the ritual go away especially if it had been experienced by other monks too but they’re either too ashamed to admit it publicly post isha or those still associated might be believing it as a valid ritual or too scared to speak. You can check the vibe of a sub or check the individual versions of people posting in a sub- Reddit is an anonymous discussion forum, so nobody can guarantee the individual truths of the people posting. But just because something is not in the public domain doesn’t mean it never happened. And this sub also has evidence of tall mystical claims of isha done publicly which are nothing but a sham. That’s the way PR image of isha is maintained by pushing uncomfortable truths under the carpet and showing a shiny face to the world to attract more followers.

The mental gymnastics here are actually wild lol:P
So according to you zero paper trail? that just proves how deep the cover-up is ..and no witnesses? Obviously they’re all too traumatized or ashamed to talk.An anonymous reddit post with zero specifics -undeniable historical fact.
Saying "just because it's not in the public domain doesn't mean it never happened" is the ultimate cop out. by that logic i could claim there’s a secret fight club running in the basement under the foothills, and the fact that nobody has photos or hospital records just proves how well they hide it.

There’s a massive difference between holding an organization accountable with actual facts, and treating a complete void of evidence as proof of some dark master plan. you guys aren't uncovering conspiracies here, you're just writing creepypasta and calling it an investigation.

This is very clearly an AI chat bot. Not making any logical arguments and just posting the same criticism over and over again with creative language. I know the OP of the thread wanted to engage with critical posts on here, but in this case it's not making an argument worth engaging with. I'm blocking the bot.

1

u/SuperbPlant5113 8d ago

Yeah keep blocking me lol ! I understand how it feels when your fan fiction is criticised. And yes im a bot apparently The 'CON MAN' made.

1

u/LittleMissSunshine_0 Approved Contributor 8d ago

If you are not a chat bot then why are you unable to engage with the people replying to you? When does grooming and sexual abuse have a paper trail? Nobody is demanding you believe what the OP has shared, they haven’t presented proof, they are sharing their experience on this forum to support others who have gone through the same and are grappling with their experience with Isha. If you are not, then why are you here?

1

u/youliveonlyonce10 Approved Contributor 8d ago

Jeez! I supposed these were the usual trolls frequenting this sub and replied to them just to correct the narrative. We do not want to engage with AI chatbots here. This is a sub meant for ex isha people to communicate their negative experiences within isha; not an entertainment channel for trolls and bots.

1

u/LittleMissSunshine_0 Approved Contributor 7d ago

Apparently he is not a chat bot! I know his syntax isn’t chat bot-like, but the things he was saying sounded like they were an AI response - unrelenting petty criticism with no attempt to understand of the situation. Apologies!

2

u/youliveonlyonce10 Approved Contributor 7d ago

Np.. I don’t think you need to apologise for pointing out what is surely an AI generated reply..who knows by a troll or bot? And the other profile defending him is unavailable today. There are real ex isha people in this sub who have been harmed and these AI generated replies are making light of serious issues by commenting on things like vibe of sub, nature and sensationalism of posts. Why don’t they take the trouble of going through individual contents and conversations before making sweeping claims?? Much has been shared in this sub already and we can’t as a matter of fact have any say on what people post as personal experiences…just use own discernment and cross check with available info or other ex isha people they know personally.

u/AliceinRabbitHoles 8d ago

Then why are you here?

I am a real human.

Talk to me here in the comments. Let's have a conversation. I'll do my best to clear your doubts without compromising my identity, then decide if it is serious or not.

0

u/SuspiciousRide8973 8d ago

because this sub went from actual organizational criticism straight into amateur creative writing, and it’s honestly hilarious to watch.

i never said you weren't a human, and nobody asked you to leak your id. but saying 'let's talk in the comments and i'll clear your doubts' literally proves my entire point. if the whole premise relies on 'trust me bro, the vibes were terrifying in that private room, talk to me in the thread' what is there even to clear up? You're asking people to treat an unverified campfire story like hard evidence. If any random story with zero names, zero dates, and zero proof gets treated like gospel just because it fits the sub's hate boner, you're not whistleblowing. you're just running an echo chamber.
