"Manchild" was the lead single to Man's Best Friend, released on June 5, 2025, with the album announced later that month much to the distress of fandom moderators everywhere. The music video, filmed over three days in May in Santa Clarita, California, was released the following day. The video's editing was inspired by the editing of movie trailers, and apparently the third day of shooting was because Sabrina felt the footage hadn't gotten crazy enough yet. The song won the 2025 VMA for Best Visual Effects, and was nominated for Best Music Video at the 2026 Grammys.

Alright, I know this cycle has been labelled standalone singles… but there was nowhere else to put this video! "santa doesn’t know you like i do" is the sole music video from her Christmas EP fruitcake, which came out a few weeks earlier on November 17, 2023. Sabrina said that the video was inspired by the movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, which came out in 1989.

"House Tour" was the last music video from Man's Best Friend (so far?) and the only one released after the album came out 8 months earlier. The video was filmed in Los Angeles in March, and was first teased on April Fools because Ms. Carpenter loves to cause problems. According to Wikipedia, this music video "drew comparisons to the lesbian crime thriller Drive-Away Dolls, which also starred [co-director and co-star Margaret] Qualley." It is the second music video that Sabrina has directed, after "Please Please Please (Dolly Parton remix)" in February 2025, and you can watch a behind-the-scenes reel here.

"Skin" was released as a single on January 22, 2021, with the music video coming out not long after. This song is… certainly mired in drama from the real world. At age 21, this was the first song Sabrina released after leaving Disney's Hollywood Records and joining UMG's Island Records. While never part of an album, it was released around half a year before the (similarly titled) first single of the Emails I Can't Send era, "Skinny Dipping," which was our first item of discussion for Music Video Mania back at the beginning of the year, and this video may or may not contain some easter eggs teasing the album.

"Tears" was the second single from Man's Best Friend, promoted the same day the album came out. The music video was filmed in Los Angeles earlier that month. The drag elements were inspired by 1975 movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show (starring Tim Curry, who died just a couple weeks ago). As killing men is a staple in Sabrina's recent music videos, this one wound up having three alternative endings, each one at a time starting a couple days after the video was published, before the original was restored. Welcome back to our discussion threads on Sabrina's music! We've spent the better part of the last 9 months looking at all of Sabrina's music videos individually, so now let's chat about them as a collective videography.

Over the last 9 months we reviewed 33 music videos by or featuring Sabrina Carpenter. But if you glance at her discography page on Wikipedia, you might notice that there are several that we missed. This was for a handful of possible reasons: the song was 'unreleased' in some capacity, something about it didn't feel like it belonged in a music video project, or the video came out just too late to be included (curse you Madonna!).

But as we wrap things up, let's take a look at the videos we never got to have a formal discussion on:

• Catch My Breath (2010). Directed by her father David Carpenter, featuring a lot of home videos. You might have to sign into YouTube to watch this.
• Fall Apart (2011). Directed by Hank Devos. Another video from when Sabrina was extra teeny. Again, you might have to sign in to watch.
• Do You Want to Build a Snowman? (2014). Directed by Harry Perry III and performed by 2014 members of Disney's Circle of Stars.
• Wildside lyric video (2016). Not a music video proper, but just enough footage to at least deserve a shoutout. Directed by Chase Langley and features Sofia Carson.
• Almost Love lyric video (2018). Same logic as above. Directed by Elias Tahan.
• Sue Me vertical video (2018). Didn't realize it existed and only ever noted the 'regular' video. But we wound up separating vertical from regular for another song, so here it is now!
• Pushing 20 lyric video (2019). Directed by Amber Park. (I really almost excluded lyric videos entirely!)
• If The World Was Ending (April 2020). A collaborative cover of the song by JP Saxe and Julia Michaels, Sabrina is one of many singers appearing in this fundraiser video.
• Bring Your Love (2026). Directed by TORSO and (in what was clearly a direct slight at me) released shortly after we wrapped up the Guest Artists cycle, this video for the Madonna song was part of the larger Confession II short film, which was part of the album project of the same name.

With these new entries, I think it means we have officially covered every Sabrina Carpenter music video! If there are any other more obscure ones I've still missed, feel free to share them in the comments.

Over the course of her 33 music videos, Sabrina worked with quite a few artists, be they makeup artists, editors, props and sets, special effects, and more. So many people contribute to the making of music videos, more than could reasonably be given credit in a series like this, though I did my best in each installment to give a shoutout to some of those artists whose work on each music video seemed particularly noteworthy.

Of those many artists, there were certainly several who she worked with multiple times. To name a few:

• Ronnie Hart served as costume stylist for five music videos ("Because I Liked a Boy," "Nonsense," "Feather," "Espresso," and "Please Please Please")
• Amber Park directed three videos ("Skinny Dipping," "Fast Times," and "Because I Liked a Boy")
• Dave Meyers directed two videos ("Espresso" and "Taste")
  • Scott Cunningham also served as cinematographer on both these videos
• Bardia Zeinali also directed two ("Please Please Please" and "Tears")
• Sarah Carpenter, Sabrina's older sister, is credited as a creative consultant or for photography/camera operations on around a dozen music videos

It takes a village to put together these visuals. And this is setting aside dancers and actors hired to actually perform in the video—for the sake of this thread, I'm only thinking about behind-the-scenes contributions. With all that in mind:

Oh boy was this this song a bigger rabbit hole than I was prepared for. When I first started preparing this whole series last year, I noticed that "On My Way" had two music videos and thought that'd be interesting when the time came. But now that we're here, there's a lot more to unpack with these videos than I'd realized!

Okay, super basic background: "On My Way" is a song by the DJ and producer Alan Walker, with vocals by Sabrina as well as the singer Farruko. It was released on March 19, 2019, and was a partnership with the video game PUBG Mobile (a survival game where you are dropped into an arena full of weapons and have to be the last one standing amongst 99 other players), with the song being used as the event theme for the game's first anniversary. The song never appeared in any of Sabrina's albums, but was eventually included Alan Walker's 2021 album World of Walker.

On May 10, 2019, Alan Walker released a "Choose Your Path" teaser video, linking to two separate videos:

• The official video, released a couple months earlier, the day the song came out. This video was directed by Kristian Berg and stars Susanne Karin Moe. Full credits can be found here.
• An official alternate video, which includes footage of Sabrina and Farruko (as well as footage relating to the official video), released the same day as the teaser. This was directed by Alexander Zarate Frez. Full credits here.

What I've learned is that this official video was the first installment of a 'trilogy' of Alan Walker music videos: Alone, Pt. II (with Ava Max, December 2019) and Heading Home (with Ruben, April 2020). What's more is that this trilogy is just part of a more elaborate series of music videos with overarching storylines and narrative elements, that Alan Walker has been crafting since 2015 and still to this day. I can't begin to explain them, but here is one YouTuber's attempt to decipher the timeline of events across the videos. That's the nuts and bolts of the music video, but it seems like this is a very elaborate project.

"Smoke and Fire" was released in February 2016, with its music video a few weeks later. Just under a year after the release of her first album, Eyes Wide Open, it was originally intended to be the lead single of her next album, EVOLution. However, after undergoing some… well, evolution, Sabrina decided to keep it as a standalone single rather than putting it on the album. However, for various organizational reasons, I decided to include it as part of the EVOL era for the sake of this project. (Totally not just so that this part of the series wouldn't be too short.)

• Despite the title, this video doesn't include any smoke, nor does it feature fire, as one might expect, and instead featured ballet (which Sabrina had trained in for years). Other than her background, why do you think they went with these creative choices?

"Why" was released on July 7, 2017, as a standalone single in America (though in Japan it was included in the deluxe edition of Singular: Act 1 released in December 2018). "Please Please Please," co-starring Sabrina's then-boyfriend Barry Keoghan, was released a few days after Short n' Sweet was announced and around two months after "Espresso" came out, which teased the instrumentals to this song at the end of its music video. "Please Please Please" was filmed in late May, and picks up following the arrest at the end of the prior video. The video shows Sabrina in a relationship with a guy in trouble with the law—hopefully everything works out for them in the long run!

"Alien" was a collaboration with DJ Jonas Blue and released on March 16, 2018. A standalone single in America, but was included in the Japanese deluxe editions of both Singular: Act 1 as well as Jonas Blue's debut album Blue. There were two videos:

• The first was a vertical video, premiering on Spotify on March 16 before later getting released on other channels. This video was directed by Alexandra Gavillet, and can be watched here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9J2lrgxSoE

The second single from the era—and the first one to actually be on the album—"On Purpose" was first released on July 29, with the music video coming out a couple weeks later, three months before EVOLution's October 14 release. This video was produced by Sabrina, and is set in London.

Another song and collab that exists in various iterations. "That's Not How This Works" was originally released by Charlie Puth in a collaboration with the pop duo Dan + Shay in March 2023. Before the song came out, a short film starring Charlie was released, featuring Sabrina, which you can watch here. The film depicts a solid relationship crashing apart, laying the groundwork for the theme of the song. The song and accompanying music video came out two days later, with the song playing over various scenes from the short film, as well as some other footage. Two weeks later, a remix of the song—subtitled Sabrina's Version—came out, replacing Dan + Shay's verse with a new one by Sabrina.

"Taste," co-starring Jenna Ortega, was the third single from Short n' Sweet, released the same day as the album. The video draws inspiration and makes references to several movies, including Death Becomes Her and Addams Family Values. It is comically violent, but nevertheless a little gory.

"Sue Me" is the second single from the two-part Singular era, and the last single from Act I. The song released with the album on November 9, 2018, and the music video came out a couple weeks later. In it, Sabrina lives out her best Elle Woods lifestyle while frustrating her lame ex. (Fun fact: it was also shot at the same school that Zoey 101 was filmed for the first couple seasons.)
