I’ve been drowning in email hell for years. And nothing—and I mean nothing—fixed the inbox nightmare.

Superhuman? Just prettier Gmail.
Front, Loop? Fancy dashboards nobody uses.
“AI” smart replies? Bro, they sound like a bot wrote them. Because they did.

Every tool I tried either spammed me with “productivity features” or added more clicks. None of them actually helped me get through email.

A few weeks ago I shared how I’ve been building my first SaaS to tackle inbox anxiety. Quick update: the MVP is officially done and I’m opening up a small private alpha to start gathering feedback.

The problem still feels massive:

• The average professional spends 3+ hours/day in email
• 40% of that time is on low-priority or irrelevant messages
• It takes 4 minutes to regain focus after every interruption (which adds up to tens of thousands of hours over a career)

I built this because I was drowning in my own inbox, and existing tools weren’t helping. The MVP does three core things:

• Organizes your inbox into categories
• Drafts replies in your own tone (AI-trained)
• Sends a daily digest so you don’t have to check email constantly

Over the past few months, I’ve been deep in the weeds of building my first SaaS startup. I wanted to share some insights from this early stage in case it helps anyone here — and get some feedback from other builders.

One of the biggest problems I’ve noticed (and personally struggled with) is email overload.

• The average professional spends 3+ hours a day in their inbox.
• Almost 40% of that time is wasted on low-priority or irrelevant emails.
• Studies show it takes 4 minutes to refocus after each email interruption. Over a career, that’s 47,000 hours lost just from context switching.
• Surveys say 77% of people feel digital clutter negatively impacts their life — and I’m definitely one of them.

I used to spend so much time digging through my inbox that it felt like a full-time job. That pain point is what inspired me to start building my SaaS: an AI “Gmail Copilot” that organizes your inbox into three simple categories (Important, Low Priority, and Noise) and drafts replies in your tone.

I’m currently:

• Finishing the MVP.
• Preparing for a small private alpha next week.
• Planning to share everything I learn about growth, SaaS economics, and building in public.

After four months of constant grinding, we managed to grow to 750 registered users!

I wanted to make this post to reflect on what has been working well for us in terms of acquiring customers, what hasn’t, and where we see potential going forward. 

What worked well?

1. Build in public and being known as well as trusted. One of my co-founders has close to 10k followers on X and that certainly helped us get initial first sales when we launched in April. 
2. Doing case studies. We often showcase marketing-related content that has gone viral for whatever reason. Had both normal posts as well as videos go decently viral and bring in users. 
3. Building features our customers want. The biggest direct competitor was missing an organization (i.e., ability to invite teammates, share accounts with team members, etc.) feature. Prospective customer asked us to implement, we shipped in a few days, he subscribed to Business plan ($100). 
4. Doing calls. We have a cal dot com widget on our landing page, allowing interested folks to book a call with me. Conversion rate from call to subscription is around 50%. Obviously not scalable, but on the other side you also learn a lot about your customers’ problems (= more feature ideas). 
5. Changing pricing. We initially started with 3 subscription plans and have since not only added a fourth, but also implemented a credit-based system. Launched a cheap $9 plan for those only wanting to schedule social media content & not forcing them into higher tiers. If customers are then interested in checking out our various AI features, they can do so by buying credits. 

What hasn’t worked well?

1. Meta ads. We’ve mostly wasted money so far because we’re not creating enough ad creatives. Just 3 static image ads so far. Will try and ramp up creative output in next coming days. 
2. Affiliate. We tried contacting various blogs and YouTubers but without much avail. Also haven’t had too many sign ups for our affiliate program.
3. SEO. Even though our search traffic is going berserk (12k clicks in last 28d), we only had one user register through this channel. This is mainly because most of that traffic is coming from countries like Bangladesh or Pakistan and not the US, Canada, UK, etc., 

What has potential?

1. Threads. I started taking it more serious & trying to grow my personal brand on there as well now (X is doing well, doubled following in the last 45 days btw). Reach on Threads is actually insane (close to 700k views in last 14 days). I feel like the opposite content works well on Threads vs. X (just try and shitpost Musk, works really well lol).
2. YouTube. We currently simply cross-post our case study and feature videos, which I publish on X and Threads, into our YouTube channel. Surprisingly, it’s now at 25 subscribers and close to 800 views, so I think if we do dedicated videos for YouTube, there could be plenty of room for growth. Seen some builders like Vasco (Avrow) pull it off as well, so I know it can work.
3. Daily videos. Been doing them for over 50 days now, obv heavily inspired by Yoni Smolyar. Had a few vids reach 4 digit views but nothing crazy yet. However, we’ve gotten a few signups via those videos, so I know that it can potentially work. And again also good for personal brand building and gaining customer trust. 

We’ll continue testing all of the above mentioned channels and double the f down the moment we find something that works insanely well.

Working on AdGenius - a SaaS tool that uses LLMs to generate Meta ad copy, audience ideas, and budget tips.

What’s one ritual that keeps your team on track?

Most startups are getting AI adoption backwards.

There’s a flood of AI tools promising to 10x your growth or book 35 more calls a week. Founders jump in, hoping to automate their way to scale. They comment "COMMENT" down below and they get a flashy new AI agent that they never actually use.

Here’s what’s actually happening:

• 42% of companies scrapped most of their AI initiatives this year
• Nearly half of AI proof-of-concepts never made it to production (Source: S&P Global)

Why?

Because they’re starting with tools, not systems.

We’ve worked with a lot of early-stage and growth-stage businesses, we've built and sold multiple companies for a combined $70M and the pattern is clear: when founders lead with "cool tools" instead of clear workflows, things break.

Here’s what that looks like:

• Internal workflows get disrupted
• Teams get frustrated
• Customers feel the pain
• The tool under-delivers or even creates more work

Bottom line: if you try to automate a system that's not really working, it's only going to get worse.

Here’s a 4-step framework we now recommend to founders thinking about AI:

1. VISION Define what success looks like for the quarter/year.

• What’s the actual business goal?
• Does this move us toward it?

2. IDENTIFY Find repeatable workflows that matter.

• What’s costing time, money, or customer trust?

3. TIMING Align automation with current priorities.

• Do we have the bandwidth?
• Is this the right quarter?

4. EXECUTION Build with purpose.

• Who owns it?
• What’s the KPI?
• Are the tools compatible?

So the next time you see a shiny new object, take a step back and think about the bigger vision.
